Creative Confetti: Small & Sassy!

Hello all and Happy Tuesday!
Gosh, I made it here just in the nick of time, didn't I? It's been a crazy week at the Koerber house, so thanks for waiting for me! How is your New Year going? I hope 2020 is off to a rip roarin' good start for each and every one of you!

With the new calendar, we have a new creative beginning! Who is ready? I know I am and can't wait to usher in a whole host of new challenges and different ways to spice up our weekly gathering. Get ready for some fun things down the road! Also, be sure to stick around to the end of this post when we unveil who was the winner of our December Creative Confetti Challenge!

Recently, I was in my craft room trying to scale back and organize and I stumbled upon some 4-1/2" square envelopes. They were so cute really. I know, it's an illness when we call an envelope cute but bear with me because those square little envies sparked this challenge!

HOW TO PLAY:
All you need to do is, just as the graphic suggests, create a card that's smaller than the typical A-2 size, which is 4.25" by 5.5". Anything goes! You can even choose a different shape. Make it square. Use a die-cut to create a circle card, whatever your little heart desires. Just do one thing -- make it small and sassy! ;-)

On to my creations!

Being that I had a stack of these envelopes, I thought it might be fun to create not one, but a whole set of cards that maybe I could give as a gift. I have a few friends who really love these for birthdays and low and behold, one of them has a birthday coming up! So, winner, winner, chicken dinner!

I started with the digital stamp set by Power Poppy called Forget-Me-Not Heart. I love this image because the flowers are just as sweet as can be and you can color it up in a jiffy. It made creating four of these cards a breeze! I started by opening up the file and used the heart with the sentiment "Thank You" already placed inside. I grabbed my Copic Markers and went to town coloring! All four cards had leaves colored up with YG00, YG23 and YG25. For the flowers below, I used R81, R83 and R85. All centers of the flowers were colored with Y11 and Y17. Then, when all was done, the centers were dabbed with a wee bit of white gel pen, just for a little extra something!

The petals on this card were colored with B60, B63 and B66. Using the blank Forget Me Not Heart, I added different sentiments to each of the remaining cards. For this one, I used the sentiment from the digital stamp set Pure Prairie Bouquet.

The petals here took on Y02 and Y11 and the sentiment was from Power Poppy's Easy Breezy Coneflower digital stamp set.

And this one was colored with BG11, BG13 and BG15. The sentiment was from the Camellias digital stamp set.

The fun part of creating this little four-card set was that I used four base cards from a set I bought at Michaels that offered up all kinds of colors and patterns in one box set with envelopes. I simply trimmed them all down to create a 4-1/4 by 4-1/4" square -- perfect for my little 4-1/2" envelopes! What I trimmed off the cards, I used as accents on the others. It couldn't have worked out any better! I added some little enamel dots and popped some of the die-cut hearts with foam tape and.. ta-da! I was done! All in all, it only took me a little more than an hour to whip up these four cards and now, I have some on hand for a friend! I will probably make a little coordinating box for these, perfect for gifting!

So, with that little dose of inspiration, it's your turn to create a " Small & Sassy" card and then, when you're done, be sure to link it up using the linky below! Every link during the month of January will be added to our random drawing for a $25 gift code to the Power Poppy Shop!

So.... without further ado... let's get to that December
drawing winner, shall we?

After all the names were thrown into the virtual hat, this is the number drawn by Random.org!

That means our lucky stamper is.... (drum roll please!)

**** LINDA PAIDER!!! ****

And, here is a peek at Linda's beautiful creation using Power Poppy's digital stamp set Season of Serenity... just take in the beauty y'all!

Linda created this clean and classy creation after being inspired by the birds she sees while taking a gander out of her window. Sigh. I love the thought of being able to see a cardinal or two. You are lucky Linda! And your creation is just stunning! You are the lucky winner of our $25 gift code to the Power Poppy Shop! To claim your prize, all you need to do is email us at bloom@powerpoppy.com and Marcella will go ahead and get your code right to you! Thanks so much for sharing your artistry!

So, dear happy stampers, it's your turn! Let's see that small and sassy side come out in your creations this week! And, like I said, don't forget to link up your creation below so we can ALL see what you've whipped up!

Until next time,

HOW TO PLAY: All you need to do is create using Power Poppy stamps! And, I'll go one step further -- why not cue up one of our past Creative Confetti challenges! You can go back to the very beginning if you like! If you do decide to do this -- make sure you add a link in your post showing us which one you decided to give a try (again!)

I wish I had a sample to share this week but it's been a bit of a crazy train at my house. In the midst of the hustle and bustle, I ended up getting the flu. So, no creative time for me this past week.

Creative Confetti: Mad about Plaid!

Hello all and Happy Tuesday! And... happy 8 days before Christmas! I hope you have cookies in the oven and sugar plums dancing in your heads! ;-) Since there is such a hustle and bustle this time of year, I thought I would make this week's Creative Confetti, super dooper easy for you all to play along! Ready to see what I have in store?

HOW TO PLAY: I don't know about you but I think Buffalo check plaid is about the hottest thing this Christmas season and I have loved seeing it play out in decor! From tree accessories to tree skirts to wrapping paper and ribbon. Heck, some are even decking out their entire tree in the theme! It is everywhere! So, I thought, why not add a little plaid to our cards? Keep in mind, you can use ANY style plaid that you have in your stash, no need to match the buffalo check above! So, let's see what you can whip up and show us all how you are Mad about Plaid!

On to my creation!

While I didn't have buffalo check plaid, I did have this sparkly plaid that looks a cousin of that check print! I thought it looked super cozy with the image I chose from Power Poppy's Cozy Cupfuls stamp set. I stamped using Tuxedo Black Memento ink and then colored my image up with Copic Markers sticking with vibrant reds (R32, R35, R37) kraft colors (E51, E53, and E55), shades of gold (Y21, Y32, Y35 and Y28) and then touches of green (YG61, YG63, and YG67). I did add some shading with R0000 and R00 on the top (which you can barely see in the photo) and BV00, BV000 on the bottom. Add a strip of kraft paper, some fun ribbon and a little popped up sentiment and... done!

Here's a little close up for you! As always, Christmas cards need a little glitter! ;-)

And that, my friends is it! Let's see you get "Mad About Plaid!" and see what fun you can craft with this bold pattern as a backdrop or accent on your creation! And, as I mentioned, when you're done, just link up your creation below so we can all see AND so you can have a shot at winning a $25 gift code to the Power Poppy Shop!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Hopefully, we'll see you back here real soon! ;-)

Creative Confetti - Triple Play!

Hello everyone! Barbara Campbell here and I'm your guest host for this week's Creative Confetti Challenge. I got to thinking about the fall activities and here in Wisconsin, baseball was a big thing this fall. Our Brewers were trying hard to get to the playoffs. They made the wild card team, but better luck next year. This is what gave me the idea for this challenge. I am calling it Triple Play.

HOW TO PLAY: For this challenge, you need to use the same image three times on your project. That's it!

If you are making fall cards you could leaves or acorns. If you are working on your Christmas cards there are a lot of things that you could use. Snowflakes, candles, ornaments, I could go on, but I think you get the idea!

Here is my inspiration for you...

For my creation, I used Power Poppy's Under Glass Christmas Traditions stamp set.  Since I used non-traditional colors with the designer papers, I decided to go with that color scheme and decorated the trees in like colors. It's hard to see, but I used Nuvo drops on the white garlands and Glossy Accents on all of the blue ornaments. Don't forget to make your inside interesting too for your recipients, but that's not necessary for this challenge.

So join me with this challenge and when you are finished with your card, make sure you link up your creation using the linky below! Every single entry is one more chance at a $25 gift certificate to the Power Poppy Shop.

OK, the ball is in your court, Can't wait to see what you will do with this one!

Thanks for stopping by!
~Barbara

Creative Confetti: Sketch It Out!

Hello Power Poppy Peeps and Happy Tuesday! I know that in the past, many of you have said you love a good sketch challenge every now and then! So, if that is the case, you are going to love today! Check it out!

HOW TO PLAY: Simply be inspired by the sketch below when creating! You can flip this sketch any way you like and -- instead of using a circle -- feel free to use any shape as well! It's up to you! The only thing I ask is that we can tell that you used the sketch for your card. Just that simple!

After you are finished creating, simply link up your creation on the linky below for a chance to win....

A $25 Gift Code to the Power Poppy Shop

Isn't that fun? The good news is, the linky is up all month long, giving you lots of chances to win!

Let's Take A Look At The Sketch!

On to My Creation!

I used Power Poppy's Snow Kissed clear set for my card. I just ADORE this little snow guy! This image is really kind of on the larger side but with my layout, I knew I wanted my snowman just peeking out of the top. So I stamped him using Memento Tuxedo Black ink and then used a stitched circle die to cut him out.  On the top rectangle, I used one of the nordic patterns in the set to tie in the Fair Isle/Nordic look! I colored the snow guy up with Copic markers and really didn't use a ton of them -- a couple reds, a couple greens and then BV20 and BV23 for his hat. I accented with RV0000, some white gel pen and, of course, glitter glue! Love those little sparkles on anything snow!

If you've not seen this set, here's a peek at the entire set for you!

I am showing you because you can see that the sentiment I used is only a part of the sentiment in the set. So.... how did I do that? It's as simple as a little bit of masking tape!

So, I added the tape covering up those top words before inking it up. I realized after I constructed my card base that the top portion just wouldn't fit. So, thanks to a little tape....

I inked it up, pulled off the tape and then stamped! A perfect fit! After I was done stamping, it was just as simple as matting it up, adding some fun stitched ribbon and a few little red rhinestones. Easy Peasy!

Before we get to the linky for this challenge, we have to draw a winner for our October challenge! There were so many lovely entries and we just loved going through them all to "oohh" and "ahhhh" at what you have done!  Are you ready to find out who won? Random.org put all the names into the virtual hat and the winner is.....

That means, our lucky stamper is....

****  JEN A.K.A. MS. BOO!  ****

Don't you love Jen's clean and classy design with that pretty coloring? Jen used Power Poppy's Season's Seatings digital stamp set to create this beauty of a card! It's a great bit of inspiration for this time of year, don't you think? Jen, to claim your gift code, all you need to do is email us at bloom@powerpoppy.com and we will get that winning code right to you!

So, let's see you all rock this week's sketch and get in on the chance to win a $25 shopping trip to the Power Poppy Shop! All you need to do is link up your creation and.... have fun creating! We can't wait to see what you come up with!

Until next time,

I printed, colored up with Copic Markers and reached for G21, G24, G28, Y32, Y35, Y38, E25, E27, E23. I accented with a little BG0000 and BG10. And, when all was said and done I scribbled on some lines using a white gel pen. Why? No idea. I just felt like it! LOL!

Creative Confetti: Let's Take 10!

Hello Power Poppy Fans! Since we are in the thick of fall and a lot of us are still getting used to more structure and trying to enjoy this beautiful season, I thought we'd try to focus on a kind of card that we could ALL learn to create. What card is that? The quickie kind of cards that are fun to whip up but don't exactly look like you just took 10 minutes to assemble! And that, my friends, is what this week's Creative Confetti Challenge is all about!

HOW TO PLAY: Create a card in a jiffy with a more clean and simple design -- one that's easy to mass-produce and can be created and mailed in the same hour!

Let's get on to my creation!

You can see above that my MISTI stamping tool and Power Poppy's Big Scripts stamp set (on sale now for $9.99)  are two things at the center of my 10-minute card. I also decided to focus on my colors - card stock, ink, embellishments - before I got to creating. I wanted to make sure that everything was a perfect match before I got creating.

Once I narrowed that all down, I lined up my cardstock in the MISTI and then, after every color, I wiped off my stamp and moved my paper down three lines on my MISTI, keeping my paper vertically even as I went. These inks are all really old colors. Do you remember Vivid! ink? Well, I have the whole line with reinkers and I swear, I have had them for close to 20 years. I remember when I started stamping saving up to buy a few ink pads a month to build up my collection. ;-) Ahhh... memories!

Here's a closeup! You can see, when I was done with the linear stamping, I die cut my wonky rectangle and trimmed the coordinating cardstock to give me 1/8" around the outside. Add some decorative polka dot paper, add a sentiment from the Poppy XL clear set. Add some sequins and... ta da! Done!

This one is an easy peasy design that you can do in almost any color scheme to let a friend know that you are thinking about her! Sometimes the message is more important than the time it took to create a handmade card, don't you think?

So, why don't you try your hand at a quickie card and join me this week? Remember, each and every link up with our linky below is one more chance at a $25 gift certificate to the Power Poppy Shop! So, let's see what you've got!

Until next time!

Creative Confetti: Over the Edge

Hello! I bet you came here looking for Julie and a new Creative Confetti challenge? Surprise! I am your guest hostess for the challenge today.  I am a card maker who loves to color, my name is Barbara Campbell. I am very happy to say that I will be hosting here every so often. I am honored to be joining Julie in this new journey and over the top excited to challenge you today! Let’s get started.

HOW TO PLAY: There are a lot of ways that you can do this challenge and bring your main image off the edge. That's why I have two examples for you.

My first example uses the digital stamp Countryside Bouquet. It's one of my favorites. I am pretty proud that I have been working with digital stamps lately and was able to use part of this stamp and merge it with another part to take my main image off the side off my card or... "over the edge." The sentiment is from the same stamp set and after printing it out, I colored it with my Copic markers. Then, I added a blue border to the base card and a matching envelope.

For those of you that what to kick it up a notch, I have this second idea for you!
I sure would like to challenge you to do one like this, where I used a die to take the image off the main portion of my card. It is not hard at all. Let me you how I did this one!

On a piece of card stock that is 5-1/2" by 8-1/2", I marked a line at 4-1/4". This is where your fold would be for a top folding card. The line is barely visible here, but it helps to know where to stamp my image. I used Power Poppy's Chrysanthemum XL. Then I placed the coordinating die over it to cut it out.

I used a partial die cut for  placing my Big Shot clear cutting plate so that I only cut the top of the flower. See?

This is how it looks after cutting the Chrysanthemum XL out. It is folded on the line and I cut off the bottom to make sure that it was only 4 1/4 inches high.

Next, I colored it up...

To make the flower stand out, I used Distress ink sponged around it and then highlighted it with my Copic markers with B10. I used a stencil to get the lines on the top right and a copper envelope seemed to fit for this card.

Ok, crafty people, I have challenged you to go "Over the Edge!" Let's see what you create. Remember to link up your creation below for your chance to win a $25 gift code to Power Poppy!

Thanks for stopping by!
~Barbara

Creative Confetti: Say it with Sepia!

Hello all and happiest of Tuesdays to you! Is Fall in the air in your neck of the woods? It's starting to feel a little like that where I am -- it's a little crisp -- and so, I have thankfully had a little extra time in my crafting space. (Did I mention I hate being chilly? I really should not live in the northwest!)

Moving on! Because I love trying new things, I decided to cue up THIS Inspire Me Monday tutorial from Ally Cope on Partial Die Cutting. Since it had been forever and a day since I have used a diffuser, I decided to try to recreate the technique -- I even picked up the same image and shapes! The only real difference is I chose to take the look down a different path and that path is the inspiration for this week's Creative Confetti! Check it out peeps!

HOW TO PLAY: It's just as simple as the graphic suggests, create with that antique feel, use sepia shades and keep your color scheme somewhat faded.

On to my creation!

If you look HERE and see Ally's card, you can see I really did CASE her (Copy And Steal Everything), except for the color scheme. I also used Power Poppy's Natural Beauties both the stamp and the coordinating Natural Beauties die set! I love the soft sepia look in cards. It is so easy to achieve and the serene feel it creates is just perfect for snail mail. I did a similar look for a card a while back HERE using Power Poppy's Countryside Bouquet. I love the effect!

Now the trick to this card (other than Ally's Partial Die Cut technique) was choosing the right Copic markers. I decided to go super light and used G20, YG0000, V0000, V00, Y0000, Y11, YR0000, YR01, R0000, R01, W1, G0000. So with the exception of just a few markers, all of them were either 0000, 00 or 01 in their value. The result was a super soft color scheme that did take on an antiqued feel.

Here's a closeup for you!

I just love the soft look, the clean and simple design and how after you got the hang of the partial die cut, this is a super quick and easy creation! You should really cue up her tutorial and take it for a spin!

Okay folks,  now it's your turn to "Say it with Sepia!" Remember, after you create and play along, link up your project using the linky below so we can all see. Every entry is one more shot at a $25 gift code to the Power Poppy Shop! Woo hoo!

Also, I mentioned this last week! DO YOU HAVE AN IDEA FOR AN UPCOMING CHALLENGE? Email me at juliekoerber@gmail.com and fill me in! If your idea is used, we'll honor you on our blog for the week! Now don't be shy! I can't wait to hear your ideas! We already got a couple of emails and we can't wait to share!

Until next time,
~Julie
