The Blossom Challenge: Gold, Silver and Shimmer!

Hello Power Poppy Friends!  It’s Christine with you today wondering when our lasting fall will begin to turn to the white of Winter.  Even though I don’t love long winters, I am so glad I live where it snows.  There’s is nothing more beautiful and peaceful then a soft snowfall, or looking at a sparkling snowcovered area.  It’s shimmer and shine makes the world look like a faceted gem!

Today at Power Poppy, we’re excited to be kicking off a brand new Challenge and showcase some brand new digi images in the 2022 Digital Blitz that Marcy has cooked up for us!  You’ll see some wonderful remastered images that Marcy has released in the past in polymer that will be delightful for you to create with.

The Blossom Challenge this month is called Gold Silver and Shimmer, and it’s all about metallic and shine.

I have two designs to show you and I’ll begin with this brand new and lovely Wrapped with Love Digi.  It is filled with little pretties that evoke a elegant and classy traditional vintage Christmas all wrapped up in a bow!  I coloured the image with Copics, and added lots of touches of shimmer with my glitter pen on the ornaments, stars and paired it with pretty glittery paper.  Paired with the non-traditional coloured plaid patterned paper and it’s full of charm.

My next design is cozy and warm with rustic touches using a remastered image called Mighty Pine.  I love winter botanicals like this where you can really dig into the colouring.  I brought it to life with Copics, a little Prismacolour Pencil and some gold metallic pen touches on the jingle bells.  All layered onto a distress oxide ink blended and stencilled background.  Little splatters of gold shimmer and wood veneer hearts tie it all together.

Does Gold, Silver and Shimmer make your heart sing? Wed love to have you join in the challenge this month showing us your best designs with gold, silver or shimmery elements.  Pull out your embossing, gold, silver or shimmery paper, foiling, embellishments and paper treatments.  Dazzle us!

This month we’re going to have our Bloom Brigade Designers pick their favourites from the Challenge Entries as winners, so pull out all the stops!  Remember you must use at least 1 Power Poppy stamp or image.  This month were going to pick 2 Winners of a $20 Gift code to the Power Poppy Store!  Enter below.  You have until November 20th to join us.

You are invited to the Inlinkz link party!

OK, friends, let’s check out the final set of our release.... I am completely enamored with these incredible flowers, and the Bloom Brigade has done nothing short of blowing me away with their cards. Take a look at Amaryllis Bliss:

Raised up on sturdy stalks or nestled into holiday mantels, Amaryllis are the scene-stealer of any display. These bulbs (Hippeastrum, to get all Latin about it) are typically forced into bloom in pots around Christmas, and they simply shimmer with a lush glow that makes everyone smile.

I’ve drawn a trio of Amaryllis blooms which you can orient about your card multiple ways — as you’ll see from the Bloomies’ cards. To add a little more flair, I’m giving you three different foliage options: Cedar, Jasmine, and a duo of strappy Amaryllis leaves. Imagine how many ways you can switch things up with all of these fun pieces!

AND: This set has coordinating dies to make the layering that much easier, as you crank out holiday cards like Willamina Wonka and the Cardmaking Factory.

Today the Bloomies are out in force sharing cards made with Amaryllis Bliss. Go soak up the beauty, then come back for a little shop-a-roo with free shipping.

Happiest Holiday 2018 Day 4: Grandma's Snowflakes

Ooooh we’re getting closer to release day and the full reveals!
Day 4 of our Happiest Holiday previews is upon us. Are you seeing images you like? Going mad for plaid and cuckoo for Corgis? That’s certainly how I felt while designing this collection.

And you haven’t even seen the last two sets.... so hang on to your hats. Even better if that hat is crocheted. Why? Because I have been reminiscing about growing up, and some of the things that made Christmas with my mom so warm and wonderful. Of course, most of that was due to my mom just being my mom. But she really went the distance when decorating. Each ornament had a story behind it, whether is was displayed on a tree or hanging from the chandelier.

With my beautiful mom, Susan, in 2013.
Standing out clearly in my memory was my mom’s collection of crocheted snowflakes. Each one so dainty! She kept them between sheets of glassine and would carefully hang them on a special snowflake tree. Of course I don’t have a photo of it, arghhhh! But here are some sweet ones that remind me of them:

Aren’t they WONDERFUL?? So many different ones, delicate and detailed, and all created by hand. My mom’s crocheted snowflakes were lightly starched to lay flat, and some years she would hang them in the window from fishing line so they would appear to float. I just had to capture these snowflakes in a stamp set. Introducing:

Grandma’s Snowflakes features 8 hand-drawn snowflakes based on vintage crochet patterns. I’ve given you various sizes to keep things interesting. When stamped, they really do resemble crocheted snowflakes. Imagine stamping in white and embossing — then a little glitter! DREAMY! Plus I designed 5 go-to sentiments to help you celebrate a homespun holiday. I really don’t think there is anything else like this out there, aside from stepping in to Grandma’s house and seeing her window display!

I am also offering Coordinating Dies with this set to help make cardmaking go a little more quickly.

The Bloomies are back to share some super sweet cards made with Grandma’s Snowflakes:

It’s hard to believe it’s only October, and I have bulbs to plant and pumpkins to carve... because now all I want to do is play with crocheted snowflakes!

OK — so tomorrow. Sunday, October 28, we will reveal our final stamp set (with dies!) — ANNNND we will have a special offer to boot! So stay tuned.

XOXOXO!!

Happiest Holiday 2018 Day 3: Snuggle Down + Through the Woods

Well howdy!! It is Day 3 of sneaky peeks at our new collection of stamps, and boy am I excited about this one! You see... the inspiration for these TWO sets was put in motion back in March, during a family spring break trip to Chicago.

I stopped into a cool-looking antiques shop in the Andersonville neighborhood, called Brimfield. The owners of this shop, Julie and Jeff Fernstrom, have created a most magical place. Room after room is lovingly loaded with everything from vintage tweed jackets to souvenir dishes, retro barware to wonderful woodsy finds — everywhere you turn is an incredible, unique display. It is a MUST-STOP if you are in Chicago. (And is right down the street from the sweetest art supply store, Martha Mae: Art Supplies and Beautiful Things — you guys seriously would swoon at both of these places!!)

The wall of vintage wool blankets had me on my knees. I mean, look at this! The patterns, the textures, the colors. I am grateful to people who help bring such sights to our eyes with their vision for creating such a cool place. I have about a billion more photos, but suffice to say, this place got my wheels turning for creating a stamp set (or two!) inspired by quirky plaids and Northwoods charm. So I set to researching... and now I am officially:

MAD FOR PLAID! So many options, so many subtle shifts in pattern that all work together! It’s cuteness with a rustic edge. Camping chic. Christmas gone tartan. Would you like to see what I did with all this plaid madness?

Snuggle Down is here to warm you up with cozy blankets and thermoses filled with hot cocoa (plus perhaps a sprig of pine). Can you imagine the coloring possibilities? I’ve loaded it up with sentiments with wishes of good cheer, and the pièce de résistance.... several strips of do-it-yourself plaid!

You’ll have to go visit Tosha Leyendekker’s blog for the full scoop on this darlingness! She totally went to town making plaid backgrounds in two-tone, showcasing sentiments from this year’s Happiest Holiday collection. But wait, there’s more. And this next set coordinates with Snuggle Down — how much fun is that?

Introducing Through the Woods — a bit larger stamp canvas than I normally do at 6" x 6", just so I could CRAM IN MORE IMAGES! In woodsy rustic fashion, this set has plaids, antlers, birch and birds, even one of the fonts looks as if it were made from logs. I plan to use the log sentiments on all the things this year. It will be Log Fontpalooza!

I’ve also tucked in two log cross-sections that are perfect for making backgrounds or tiny tags. Do you remember this birch log frame from the Wreath: Birch and Evergeens digi?

Well, you can NOW get this frame in clear stamp form (the sentiment is only included in the digital set called Wreath: Boxwood and Cranberry) along with lots of sentiments that fit perfectly inside.

There’s a very special, snow-tufted tree freshly plucked from the forest (so fresh in fact, the birds are still in it!) potted in a vintage Skotch Cooler. AND a surprise third vignette to make your holiday cards glow with warmth and jingle with merriness.

What do you think of these two sets so far? Well, just wait and see what the Bloomies have made with them!

You’ll soon see, the Bloom Brigade completely bombarded us with cuteness today with both of these sets. I’m tickled pink — and green — plaid!

See you tomorrow when we’ll debut a set that will have you thinking about vintage needlework! It’s pretty darling and I know it will be a go-to for me this year. (Along with log fonts). Merry Merry!

Happiest Holiday 2018 Day 2: Let Your Heart Be Light

Welcome back for Day 2 of our Happiest Holiday previews! The Bloomies are coming up with so many wonderful cards using my new stamp designs — giving us all a sparkling starting point for making our own cards. Today we’ll hop right into the action....

Let Your Heart Be Light is a set unlike any I’ve done before and offers soooooo many possibilities! With a nod to vintage illustrations and engravings, this set offers two Poinsettia-and-Holly bedecked “brackets”. When place one on top of the other, you can fit one of 6 sentiments between them. Or just one one of the brackets. Or make a frame! There are also stamps of glowing rays that emanate from the floral display — it’s my first “two-step” stamp, and I think it’s a darling effect. As you tour the Bloom Brigade’s cards, I think you’ll see what I mean...

Thank you so much for sharing a bit of your day with us, getting excited for this release! Day 3 on Friday will showcase TWO new sets with a cuddly, snuggly vibe that you won't want to miss.

Happiest Holiday 2018: Previews Start Today!

Well hello, dear ones!

I can hardly believe it is time to start sharing our brand new Happiest Holiday clear stamp & die release. After months of sketching and dreaming, researching, whittling, finalizing, editing, typesetting, and trusting our gut to go with ideas that we think you’ll love — here we are! From now through Sunday, we’ll show you previews of all SIX new sets, featured in totally original cards by the creative women of the Bloom Brigade. To say that you’ll be inspired is an understatement.

All six stamp sets in our new collection are the result of my endless fascination with vintage style, highlighted with botanical touches and what I think is refreshingly hip type design.

Also, there are CORGIS.

It’s no surprise that my heart has been stolen buy this li’l shorty. Tibbs the Power Puppy came in to our lives last summer, and this character, a mix of Pembroke and Cardigan Welsh Corgi, adds a ton of spunk to the family. He also has destroyed most of our furniture, upholstery, and several pair of shoes, but let's focus on Tibbs’ good qualities. Here’s one: HE’S A REAL CUTIE!

So cute, in fact, that I had to design a stamp set inspired by Tibbs. Corgis have that adorable “smile” going on almost constantly, it’s hard to resist. Even if they are mischievously trying to get into the everything or herding your children with nips to the ankles ... you see that smile and the “side eye” and all is forgiven.

In Christmas Corgis, you’ll find three focal images with cute-and-quirky Corgis, designed especially for the holidays. Corgi-centric sentiments such as “Merry Corgmas” and “Boop the Snoot” help share your cute-and-quirky flair! I’ve even drawn a border of bones, holly, and peppermint sticks to help coordinate. You’ll have so much fun with this set — and I promise there’s nothing else out there quite like it. I know, I looked!!!

It’s time to see what these amazing ladies have created for our Happiest Holiday 2018 Preview Week... I can hardly stand it, these cards are SOOOO darn cute!

Hope today’s puppy peeks have you begging for more! Day 2 promises to delight your love of florals — with a stamp set that’s totally different than anything I’ve released before. See you back here soon,
