September Power & Spark: Hitting the Books!!

Hello folks and welcome to a whole new challenge designed to bring that bit of design power and a splash of creative spark to help motivate you to make outstanding cards and papercrafting projects. Are you ready to see what we have in store for you this month? Our fab hostess is the uber talented Bloomie Katie Sims. Let's get right to it, shall we?

HOW TO PLAY: Are you a bit of a bookworm? Does your heart yearn for a great page-turner? Let's hear from Katie how she wants us to combine our love of books with our craftsy sides!

“Although, I will miss those lazy summer days, I have to admit that I love Fall and all the wonderful things that come with the season! Cooler temperatures, shorter days, falling leaves, football games, and the giddy feeling I get with the back to school rush. Call me sentimental, but even after more years than I care to admit since I’ve been in school, I still feel the need to go shopping for pencils, pens, paper pads, books, and all of the fun little things that you do to prepare for a new school year! So how about a challenge that will inspire you to “Hit the Books”? You can use an image containing books, or how about a neat book print designer paper, or even create a book mark or book cover? Whatever you decide, just make sure your inspiration is book related! I can’t wait to see what you create!”

Great challenge, Ms. Katie. Let's take a look to see how she put this book-loving challenge to the test!

Be still my heart! Katie not only covered the front of a journal and decked it out with Power Poppy's Apples in Season digital stamp set, which she so masterfully colored, she made a sweet-as-can be bookmark using Power Poppy's clear set Farmers Market. I love the pop of red and the reminder that fall and apple cider season is upon us! With this beautiful inspiration before us, now it's your chance to turn the page and give this challenge the good ole college try!

THE OFFICIAL RULES:

  • Use Power Poppy stamps if you have them. If not, it is a great way to win some.
  • Link your creation below using our Linky (please use the exact URL from your post instead of a generic blog address.)
  • Please mention Power Poppy in YOUR blog or gallery post with a direct link back to this challenge
  • The winner will receive a $50 SHOPPING SPREE TO THE POWER POPPY SHOP
  • Enter as many cards as you’d like, as long as they fit the theme of the challenge
  • Deadline to enter is September 30 @ 8:00 PM EST. At that point, we’ll draw the winner randomly and make the announcement right here on the first Friday in October.

    .....................................................................

Moving on! Every first Friday we take a look back at all those ab fab entries, throw them all in a virtual hat and draw out one lucky winner for a $50 Shopping Spree to the Power Poppy Shop! Well folks, it's that time! In August, the amazing Cindy Lawrence asked you to take a look around your home and be inspired by something inside -- a color scheme, a work of art, a design feel. And man, did you all rise to the challenge! Just click HERE to see all the entries from our Power & Spark Inspired by Home challenge!

  • So Random.org stirred it all up and drew....

That means our lucky winner of the Shopping Spree is....

    *** ANN TUCK! ***

Ann created this beauty using Power Poppy's freebie Kindness is the Way digital stamp and imitated the feel from an art print that hangs in the corner of her dining area. You'll have to click on over HERE to see her inspiration and how she brought it to life on this lovely creation!

    Good Vibes Just In Time!

Hello folks! We are so sorry to keep your good vibes waiting for the weekend but... we are in the business of showering you with them... even if it's late! ;-) Hope you are ready for the weekend and hope you are ready to catch these beautiful sources of inspiration to get you on your fun-filled way!

Okay, show of hands, who's ready to dance in the spring rain, gather up posies and just give a good cheer to the start of this life-filled season? Yep, I thought so! If you're lucky enough to live in a southern climate, a beautiful tuft of spring flowers just might be sitting outside your front or back door (like it is at Marcy's abode!). Breathe it in people and know -- if spring hasn't sprung in your neck of the woods -- it has to come soon! Right???

This good vibe comes with a bit of an enabler alert! DIES ARE BACK IN STOCK! Yes, sorry, I screamed a bit there but, hey, who's not excited that you can now have a partner in creative crime with these savvy little tools?? Remember, the sets Loving Tulips, Sassy Succulents (as shown above!), Peony Muse, and Natural Beauties all have coordinating dies. And... guess what? Lean in a bit since this is a secret! I hear, now don't tell anyone, that more dies are on the way!!! Yep, we are a wee bit excited about that fact! Stay tuned for more on that little secret!

This little dose of happy comes thanks to Vanilla Arts and the oh-so-fabulous Amy Shulke. Have you been one of the lucky ones to take one of her online classes? Um, well, if you answered "No", you are MISSING OUT my friends! Tomorrow she has a live class using Power Poppy's digital stamp set Cup of Columbine. Look at that sweet peeps!! Aren't the results gorgeous??? Tomorrow's class will showcase how to successfully color with calm and natural colors! Just click HERE for more deets on that and sign up -- promise you will love her style!

Who on earth is this sweet face above? Well, I happen to know it's Katie Sims -- a woman as sweet as she is talented and man, you and I both know SHE IS TALENTED! If you are in the Atlanta area. Ms. Katie will be at Impressive Ideas from Noon to 4 PM and she'll have Power Poppy goodness with her -- stamp sets, coloring tips galore, make and takes, and giveaways! I might just have to hop on a plane to join her for all that fun!

What do you get when you mix rainbow Deco Foil and an amazing stamp set? An even more amazing note card set! Take a gander at this beauty above crafted by Elizabeth Zaffarano using Power Poppy's digital stamp set Daffodil Bouquet. Wowza... that's some WOW FACTOR if I ever did see! You'll have to check out Elizabeth's Instagram HERE to see more photos showcasing this super fun project!

And, as a little added bonus... don't forget about this peeps!

At last check, we had close to three dozen entries for our Vitamin Me Contest -- where YOU tell US how you seize the day and soak up some ME time. Have you shared your thoughts yet? If not, we'd love for you to click on over HERE and tell us a little bit about what you do to feed your soul! You could end up winning a $50 Power Poppy Shopping Spree if you are our lucky winner!

I happen to know two Bloomies have fun things to share with you today! So, why not keep those good vibes rolling and pay these amazing ladies below a visit, will you?

Thanks for stopping by! Ally Cope will be in the house on Monday for another edition of Inspire Me Monday and, I know it's going to rock the house because, well, that's what Ally always does! ;-) Until then, my friends, enjoy your weekend!

News from the Good Vibe Tribe!

Hello all and Happy Friday folks! Are you ready for another heavy helping of inspiration here on the Power Poppy Blog? Because, my friends, I am ready to dish it up! There was so much inspiration out there this week that I was actually giddy as I made the rounds! And.... I cannot wait to share. So, let's jump right in and get to all this excitement!

    GOOD VIBE No. 1

This first little burst of creativity comes from coloring phenom Elizabeth Zaffarano, one of Power Poppy's newest Instant Gardners! Did you catch that fun news, along with a brand new digital stamp delight? If you did miss it -- don't have FOMO (fear of missing out), click HERE and read all about this fun-filled news! Then, hop, skip and jump HERE over to Elizabeth's place on the web to see how she created this gilded look above using Power Poppy's Vibrant Thanks stamp set that she said replicates the look of Italian Damascene jewelry using Mica-based paints! So fun and sparkly!

    GOOD VIBE No. 2

Folks, there's been a Bloomie sighting! This one happened at the charming little stamp shop Impressive Ideas located in the heart of Norcross, Georgia. Our own "Inky Peach," Katie Sims stopped by to show off her coloring prowess and helped overload these happy stampers with a giant dose of Power Poppy goodness! I can only venture a guess here, but I am sure they were taken with Katie's charm and her incredible coloring skills!

    GOOD VIBE No. 3

Christina Hor reeled me in with this fun "Fly Guy" creation she fashioned for her husband as a way to celebrate their 11th anniversary! Check out how she created her own sentiment to go along with this beautifully colored up image! If you want to check out her creation in its full glory, click HERE! On that post, Christina was even gracious enough to share her digi sentiment as a freebie to use to create your own Fly Guy cards! What's even more fun is the fact that this card was her way of saying, "Hey hubs, let's go fishing on our anniversary!" Too cute, right?

    GOOD VIBE No. 4

Enna (@ritzyhag on IG)  crafted not one, but TWO stellar holiday cards draped with a monochromatic flair! I know that when autumn hits and card makers start dreaming about their holiday creations, they want/need/crave ideas! We thought Enna's idea for mass producing creations with Power Poppy's Botanical Tree was truly "share worthy!"

    GOOD VIBE No. 5

Okay, this last vibe is just one that melts my heart and makes it bubble up with joy. Why? I remember when Marcy started this amazing company three years ago and mentioned how she wanted to personalize each and every delivery. She grabbed her string, her decorative papers and a slew of washi tape and sounded just so excited to be able to connect with her customers. I, being the somewhat jaded person that I am, thought, 'Well, I wonder how long this could possibly last?' I thought she might just get too busy trying to get orders out the door. Amazingly, it's lasted three years and still brings as much joy today as it did three years ago. What's fun is seeing just how much customers love this extra touch when they post their happy mail on social media. One more reason why I love, love, love my friend Marcella! ;-)

Now it’s time for the all-star line up, the Bloomies are back...

Want to see what the Bloomies beautifully crafted... just for you? Well, stop by, say "hi" and see for yourself!

Have a fabulously colorful weekend, and we’ll see you back here in a few days! You won’t want to miss awesome Ally Cope’s newest Inspire Me Monday tutorial coming your way to kick start your week!
