The Blossom Challenge Winners and Jingle Bell Inspiration

Greetings Power Poppy friends!  It’s Christine welcoming you again today!  Is it warm and toasty where you are today?  From what I can tell from weather reports, a lot of the map of both Canada and the US have had some significant cold and snow!

To warm it up, today I’m bringing you a design with this sweet image from Power Poppy called Blankets and Bells, AND I’m also here to announce November’s The Blossom Challenge winners!  I travelled quite a bit last month for work, and it’s taken me a while to catch up at home. Thanks for appreciate your patience!

Isn’t this a delightful little stack that looks cozy-cabin ready for snuggling?  Colouring is done with Copics and I’ve paired the design with some fabulous patterned paper I had in my stash with a fun colour palette.   Behind the patterned paper I sponged Distress Ink through a basketweave stencil to mirror the patterns in the blankets, added a few enamel dots, and then I tied a pair of little golden jingle bells to Baker’s twine to mirror the image.  Always sweet to hear the sound of jingle bells on a card!

NOW For our WINNERS!  Our Designers had a chance to enjoy all of your beautiful entries into November’s Gold, Silver and Shimmer challenge and they have picked 2 winners as their favourites!

and

Congratulations ladies!  Please contact Marcy at bloom@powerpoppy.com to claim your prize!

Creative Confetti: Make it Shimmer!

Hi all! Ready for another fun-filled Creative Confetti Challenge? It's a time when we throw up some ideas to pique a little interest and spark a little creativity when you hit your crafting spaces! But first, did you happen to see Ally Cope's tutorial yesterday? Woah! It's right up my alley because you know I love my glitter and sparkle! Check it out HERE as she shows us a fun way to add a little glimmer!

And with her fabulous tutorial in mind, I decided we should ALL add a little shimmer to our projects this week! Check it out!

HOW TO PLAY: Use mica powders, sparkly embossing powder, shimmer sprays, glitter glue, diamond glitter... I could seriously go on all day with this one! Just use a little something that brings a little shimmer, a little sparkle to your project!

On to my creation!

You might look at this card above using Power Poppy's Vibrant Thanks and say, "Wait a minute here... where's the sparkle!?!?" And, I would agree -- it's hard to see, until you tilt it to the light! The little tutorial I am going to share today gives your stamped images a pearlescent look that's just too lovely! And, you use this fine stuff... Pearl Ex! How many of you have a gazillion mica powders that haven't seen the light of day in a while? Yes, I see you! I am with you too!

So, I started by grabbing Pearl White Pearl Ex, it is just a plain white shimmer. They have so many though -- Duo Blue Green, Duo Blue Pink, White Gold, it's crazy all the colors!

And this above is my foundation! I stamped one of the flowers from the Vibrant Thanks set using Memento Tuxedo Black and then went to town with my Copic markers, using a range of greens and purples. I wanted to bring some of the purple into my backdrop, so I highlighted using BG0000 and then went over the top with V0000 to give it more of a purple-ish glow.

And here's where it gets fun! This is what I grabbed - a large soft brush, Versamark Ink and the Pearl Ex.

I took the Versamark ink pad and just covered my image with it. This was NOT easy at first because I honestly wasn't sure this would turn out so covering something I just spent time coloring was a bit of a "close one eye and let's see what happens" moment. After my image was completely covered with ink, I took my wide, soft brush, dipped it into the Pearl White Pearl Ex and then brushed it over top. After I was done, I took a dry Swiffer sheet and burnished the Pearl Ex into the ink. This releases the extra powder and helps it to stay put.  This effect is one that makes it appear like you stamped and colored on pearlescent paper. It's kind of dreamy!

If you have a Workable Fixatif on hand in your craft room, it's not a bad idea to seal this with a light spray. It helps the powder from rubbing off, even if it is just slightly.

And, here's a close up for you! You can see I matted it up, playing up the green and purple and adding just a few accents. The sentiment was from the Power Poppy set Potted Primrose. I love that sentiment -- one of my favorites!

And, one last look at my card!

And that, my friends, is it! Before we get to the linky, I have a huge apology! I forgot to draw a name for our July $25 gift code to the Power Poppy Shop from all of those fabulous July Creative Confetti entries! So, let's get to it!

After throwing all the virtual names into a hat, random.org drew this number....

That means the winner is...

*** DONNA WHITTEN ***

Take a look at Donna's darling creation will you? Just in case you wondered, she used Power Poppy's Cozy Cupfuls.

I just love Donna's choice of papers, her ab fab coloring and that adorable gingham bow! Just too cute! Donna, to claim your code, all you need to do is email us at bloom@powerpoppy.com and Ms. Marcella will get that code right to you!

Thanks for stopping by y'all! I hope you have a fabulous week and remember, to play along, all you need to do is add a little shimmer to your creation, link up your card below and then, once a month, we draw one random and lucky stamper to win $25! Woo HOOOO! So, as I love to say, go ahead and get those fingers inky!

Until next time!

TGIF Power Poppy Peeps!

Hello all and happiest of Fridays to you! We are going to make today's post short and sweet because we have a winner to announce and Marcy and I are still flying by the seats of our pants trying to get caught back up after being away for a bit. So, we apologize! We promise to ramp it up in the coming weeks with plenty to awe and inspire!

So, last Friday, we asked all of you to guess where in the world we were! We were both west of the Mississippi. We were both visiting places, in part, that we'd never been before. We both had family in tow. So... where were we?

If you guessed Santa Fe and San Diego, you guessed RIGHT!

Random.org drew number 5, so of all the correct answers, that meant this lovely lady below was our WINNER!

You are the lucky recipient of a...

Congrats Henriette!! Simply email us at bloom@powerpoppy.com and Marcy will get your $10 coupon code right to you!

Thanks everyone for stopping by! Be sure to swing back for another edition of Inspire Me Monday! Amy Shulke of Vanilla Arts will be in the house with some little tips and tricks on coloring glass. I took one of her classes in the past where she touched on these tips and it was an absolute game changer for me. So, stop by and see what she has to share!

Until then, enjoy your weekend and happy stamping to you all!

Winner... Winner... Chicken Dinner!

Hello folks! Hope you had an amazing World Card Making Day! Maybe you got a jump start on your holiday cards? Maybe you created a few random acts of kindness that you later hope to stuff in an envelope to send some smiles across the miles? Whatever the case may be -- I just love having an excuse to create. Not like we need one but when we say, "Hey, I am making cards because it's World Card Making Day...." Who can argue? ;-)

So, we asked you folks to comment on our beloved Bloomies' posts on Saturday and if you did, you have a chance at winning a Power Poppy Goody Bag! So, we threw all the names/comments in a virutal hat and the random winner is.....

Saturday

Good Vibe Five - WEEKEND!

Whoa, baby! This Good Vibe 5 is coming atcha on a Saturday!! AND I have more than FIVE Good Vibes.... I’m literally bursting with them. Did I mention I’m getting married next weekend, and we have been planning the entire thing in about two weeks? Here’s a little peek at part of our handpainted invitation, which of course I had to send out online due to the madhouse last-minuteness. Get a load of all the ferny woodland bits — that’s going to be our theme! But with vintage motorcycles mixed in! I’ve been calling the motif “Riding your old motorcycle through a ferny woodland”. Hey, folks, we are a little different over here. For a second marriage, it’s a blast to rev up the fun factor, because when you are 46 and finally marrying your true love, just put your heart into it, no matter how oddball it might seem.

GOOD VIBE No. 1

I haven’t publicly announced yet the winner of our Daily Marker Coloring Challenge Blog Hop PRIZE!! (Though you can see all the winners from all the various companies who played along that day RIGHT HERE.) We had comments on our blog post, on Instagram, and on Facebook — and let me tell you, we just soaked up allll the love!! Thank you, thank you for sharing your exuberance for Power Poppy!! I hope you know, the feeling is mutual, my loves!!

Our winner of the $30 Gift Code and Merriest Berries digital stamp is the delightful ANN CUSTER. Congratulations, Ann! I contacted Ann the other day to let her know she’d won, and we ended up chatting about how our little puppies run the house.

GOOD VIBE No. 2

The art and science of the spinner card — explained! Be sure to bookmark this incredibly cool tutorial by the maven of magical cardmaking mystery, Allison Cope. With a hands-on video and THREE seriously stunning cards (each featuring digital stamps, no less!), you will come away spinning circles around everyone else!

GOOD VIBE No. 3

Friends, you asked for it, and we aim to please. Power Poppy has once again paired up with Kit and Clowder to offer two new coloring classes featuring our stamps! JUST ADDED: A markers class with Tulips and Hobnail Pitcher (same image as Loving Tulips clear) - and a colored pencils class for Pure Prairie Bouquet (same as Pure Prairie Spirit clear). You get a special discount on the images if you sign up for the class, and I know that many of you already own these images, so now you can get the tips to color them EXACTLY like Alyce does. She is such a loving, encouraging lady, with talent off the charts. This is a great opportunity to learn, and it's only available to purchase until Oct. 14, so hop on over to kitandclowder.com to find out more and get signed up.

GOOD VIBE No. 4

You know we are always snooping around to see what you guys have been making with Power Poppy. It’s one of our favorite pastimes! From watching newer learners develop their skills to seeing expert colorists strut their stuff, it is all quite exciting. Christine Okken wanted to be sure that we saw this fresh-faced card by Jerri Jimenez featuring our Black-Eyed Susan digital stamp set, and boy, it is something else. Be SURE to visit Jerri Kay’s blog so you can get up close to see the details she put into this creation — from the delicate strokes of her acrylic paints, to the shimmery backgrounds and scalloped edging, this is one for the keepsake chest, for sure! Always a joy to see Jerri’s precious work.

GOOD VIBE No. 5

But wait... there’s more!

You just gotta gotta gotta go see this week’s Hues to Use — featuring a guest post by one of my favorite cardmaking/coloring dynamos, Kathleen Sanders. Read a bit about how we got to meet her in person at CHA, and see the zingy inspiration for her delicate and dashing Apples in Season card.

We have ONLY JUST BEGUN, check out what the designers of the Bloom Brigade have made this week. You are going to go bananas!
