Inspire Me Monday: Celebrating Cheryl

 

Hello friends! Lisa here hosting another edition of Inspire Me Monday and this week we have a very special theme. Last week the Power Poppy family lost a kind, beautiful soul when Bloomie Cheryl Scrivens was called to her Heavenly Home. Cheryl was known for her sweet comments, the wonderful encouragement she gave to so many and for her deep faith. What better way to honor such a fabulous soul than with an Inspire Me Monday that CASE's Cheryl's Power Poppy creations.

Cheryl created so many wonderful projects that I had a hard time narrowing it down to one. Because we have leaves changing and fall is in the air here in southcentral Alaska I decided to CASE her card that features the digital set Painting Pumpkins.

When CASE'ing this card I used the general layout but switched from a square card to an A2 size. When choosing my patterned paper I wanted to use contrasting designs like Cheryl did and I tied them together with a brown strip of cardstock across the middle.  I love how she created her own designs on the pumpkins with a sentiment and hand drawn "doodling" (as she called it) but I decided to leave mine plain.

Day 5: Holiday Treat Box

Hello, my sweet peeps! Julie here today with Day 5 of our 12 Days of Christmas extravaganza! On to my creation! 

During this time of year, I am always looking for fun ways to package up small things. Maybe it's some of my Cookies & Cream Truffles, Peanut Butter Toffee, boxes for jewelry, gift cards... well, you get the idea! So, I did some "figuring" and came up with this little handled box that is perfect for all of those things.... and more!

So, let's get started on how to make this super easy box! This little creation took just minutes to cut, score and fold and afterward, I had a ton of fun decking it out with a little bit of sparkle! 

I started with an 8-1/2" by 11" piece of red cardstock...

And scored on the longest side at the 1-1/2", 2-1/2", 4-1/2", 6-1/2", 8-1/2" and 9-1/2" lines.

Now, you'll flip the paper 90 degrees and score at the 2" line. Flip the paper 180 degrees and score there at the 2" line as well. 

Now you are going to cut out sections of these scored areas, like so! I've blacked out all the places you need to cut. On the flaps in the middle scored section, I only shaved off an inch on those so that the box could fit together nicely.

And this is what it looks like afterward. I also angled the cuts on that center flap area so that the paper didn't bunch when I ended up gluing all the flaps! And, for a little something extra, I did corner round the two top flaps. You don't need to, of course, but use any kind of decorative corner punch you have for a little extra pop of interest! 

Oh, and here's an extra tip for you! What's fun is, if you have a Fiskar's trimmer that has an arrow showing you where the blade is, you can make quick work of all this cutting, just by lining up your scored lines with the cutting trough. See?

To fold, all folds are mountain folds except the ones at the 1-1/2" and 9-1/2" marks. Those are valley folds. 

From here, you can see that I sandwich that short flap in between the full-size flaps and tape them together like so. One behind... 

And the next flap will go in front. You can see that I already have those flaps all taped up, ready to secure. 

And this is what it looks like taped up -- nice clean edges!

Here's a peek inside my box! You can see there's a bit of room for goodies! You can also see that I lined up my front and back top flaps, marked a spot for holes and then punched so that I could later string some cording through to hold it all together.  

From there, I measured that front panel and got 4-1/2" by 2". So, to make sure my digital stamp fit properly, I created a canvas to fit that measurement in PhotoShop. I used Power Poppy's Gingerbread Family digital stamp set. 

From there, I printed and colored it all up! Adding a bit of razzle dazzle with the help of glitter glue after I was done. I used a scalloped circle punch with some red glitter paper and a circle punch for the sentiment from the Simple Joys stamp set by Power Poppy.

Hello Power Poppy Peeps! It’s been a few weeks since we've shared good vibes from the tribe! Of course, every single word written here on this place we call home is filled with good vibes for all of you. GOOD VIBE 1. 

We know some of you remember our official mascot like THIS, when he was just a newcomer at the Power Poppy residence. But this, my friends, is what happens when time moves on. You get a pup who ditches the babyface for a more dapper look. Just look at this handsome man at 5 months, will you? We thought Mr. Tibbs (the Official Power Puppy) was posing in such a debonair way, we couldn’t help but share!

GOOD VIBE 2. 

The night of fright is upon us..... and Patti Wiley is helping us get in the spirit with this "boo-ti-ful" creation using Power Poppy's clear stamp set Feeling Fall. Isn’t her coloring and color palette divine? I love all the extras she added like the embossed base, all the fussy cut images and that fabulous die cut backdrop. If you click on Patti's name above, you'll see ALL of the fall-themed creations she's put up on Instagram that are equally as crisp, creative and colorful!

GOOD VIBE 3. 

Would you take a look at that? Do you even know what's in that picture? Well, this is what happens when the UPS man finally delivers freshly produced polymer for our Happiest Holiday 2017 release. You get towering stacks of stamps! Marcella admits she is going to be one happy picker and packer, fulfilling the multitudes of orders that have been rolling in! As the graphic says... time to stalk the mailman!

Hello to the Gingerbread Family — NEW digi

Hi there, everybody! 

It’s October 25, and I’ve been trying to stay on top of my Digis on the 5s calendar to keep those new digis rolling out for your coloring pleasure. And lookee — here’s one again today, it’s a miracle!!

Now... Conjure up all things spicy and sweet-smelling as you take in this new holiday digital design — I’ve whipped up a little family of gingerbread folks, along with a candy-and-frosting cottage for them to live in! There are lots of sentiments and ways you can approach these fun “ginger peeps” (I give credit to Cheryl Scrivens for that one!)

It’s time to meet the Gingerbread Family!

So many ways to decorate these cookies. This digital stamp set comes with NINE designs — each little gingerbread person has a front and back side, with choice of three sentiments that can fit inside. We also have a cottage scene that is large enough to fit on a card front (not really shown to scale here in our graphic, but remember, you can resize digital designs to suit your project, and ours are high-resolution so they don’t get pixelated when you go big!

I hope you enjoy today’s new holiday digital offering, I sure had fun with it (after I was able to get the little girl gingerperson to face the correct way — for some reason the logistics of flipping her backwards and matching the front side totally confounded me. This is why I’ve not pursued engineering and stick to flowers and typography. hehe! We finally got it, thanks to my eagle-eyed design team! Thank you, ladies!!!)
