You are an amazing mother.

On a Mother’s Day hike at Granny Jean’s country house. A gorgeous day with my mom Susan and my little walking-stick-wielders, who are now pretty grown-up looking compared to this 2010 pic!
Hey there — I just wanted to tell you something.
You are an amazing mother.

Happy Mother’s Day to YOU. May you get to revel in your awesomeness ALL WEEKEND LONG. If there isn’t someone clamoring all over the place to tell you how awesome you are, please let me be the one. Because you are. You are awesome and I think you deserve a day to really do what you want, if not more than a day... Toast yourself with a glass of Champagne. Take an embarrassingly long nap. Organize your craft room or office or closet with the radio blasting. Read a trashy tabloid magazine cover to cover in the bathtub. Go running or swimming or walking or hiking. Buy yourself a cute bra and matching undies just because it’s fun to know you’re wearing them even if no one else does. Take yourself to the fanciest place in town for the most decadent dessert, and don’t even share it! Plant flowers or a tree that remind you of your own mother.

Go do your thing, girl! It’s YOUR DAY.

If you’d like, leave a comment here telling me what you would really like to do for Mother’s Day, or what you’re going to be doing for Mother’s Day, and I’ll pick THREE people to win our May Digital Stamp Set, which will be revealed on Friday, May 15th! Comments will be accepted until Thursday, May 14 at 11pm CDT. Yes, even after Mother’s Day, you can still tell me what you wish you would have gotten to do on Mother’s Day - or the marvelous things you got to do. Tee-hee!

You don’t have to be a mother of children to enter, because we all know that we are all earth mothers, mothers to pets, mothers to our officemates, mothers to our friends who need to be kept in line ... you get the picture.

So, what do you want to do on Mother’s Day?

** Addendum ** I want to tuck in here that I can’t wait to share the day with my Lulu + Finn, and my beloved mom. We’ll also get to watch Lulu kick out the jams on the soccer field and there will be much love and gratitude in the air! I reread my post and I sure don’t mean to come off as a meanie who doesn’t cherish being a mom, or having awesome ladies in my life. :) xoxoxo ~m

P.S. Wishing a wonderful day, month, and year to my angel mother. I love you always and forever, Mama Susan!

I am doing what I want to do. I am going to the nursing home to visit the woman that was my mother's room mate. She is 101 years old and I was there 2 days ago and although she has been sharp as a tack up until a week ago, she is now hallucinating and it is scaring me. I have adopted her and she has adopted me as she has never been married and has no children. I know that I bring such joy to her when I am there and I know that this will probably be the las time I get to spend Mother's Day with her so I want to be there and so I spent Mother's Day with my Son and Daughter-in-law last weekend and going to celebrate it with my daughters Saturday and going to the cemetery for my mom and mother-in-law Sunday after church and then to the nursing home. Hopefully my friend Letty will be better and if she is not, I want to spend at much time with her as I can...

I will be having breakfast on Saturday with my son and daughter-in-law and grandkids for Mother's day. My daughter-in-law has to work on Sunday. I'm sure I will hear from my daughter who doesn't live close by on Sunday, and I am planning on spending most of Sunday crafting. I have a birthday this month and four birthdays next month for which I need to prepare cards and goodies, and getting a whole day to craft is truly a treat for me.

I would give anything to give my Mom both a day off and a gel mat for the tiled kitchen floor over cement. I was supposed to care for my Mom and Dad as they got older. I did have the privlege of watching after Dad's Mom andMom's Dad and Great Aunt prior to their deaths. But then i got hit with a rare disease which has me laying down 23+ hours a day. In January my Dad got a very rare cancer and my Mom now has the worry, care, cleanng and cooking of all three of us. So to be able to give my Mom time off from cooking and to let her learn to stamp would be a great gift.

I know that I can't physically or financially make it come true but you did ask what i would like to do, not what can I do.

If the weather stays nice I'm going to head to the nursery and get some flowers for the 1/2 wine barrel I'm putting in the back yard. I've always wanted to have one and now have the perfect place for it. I'm sure my daughter and son-in-law will be by sometime during the day.

Bernadette said...

Since I'm commenting right after "At the Inlet"s comment, I just want her to be reassured you have blessed your mom in many ways and she is loving you just the way you are. I know....that's easier said than done.....
For my own Mother's Day desire, I'd like to spend the day in church with my two sons; one who has a girlfriend. Since they've become young adults and have jobs that require them working on Sunday, my heart has yearned for them to accompany me and their dad to worship, fellowship and spend time with God and church folk. It's not easy now. That's my ultimate desire for this coming Mother's Day.
Marcella, thank you for asking us this question. I love your family stories and all the Bloom Brigade's hard work and passion to bless us. May your time with your family be very special!

On Saturday, my family and I are taking the grandmothers out for Japanese food at one of our favorite restaurants. The sushi is fabulous and so are the fresh oysters. On Sunday, I would love to visit the Huntington Library for tea and a nice stroll thru the rose gardens.

Happy Mother's Day!

Well, I'm the Blessed Mom of my first three girls, ages 40, 33 & 32. Last year we added another blessing to our lives, we adopted an 11 year old girl. Hey, it doesn't get any better than that! Well, at least for me anyway. But on Mom's Day, we're going to BBQ with our soon-to-be new in-laws as my 33 year old is getting married on the 30th of this month. Wait! It does get better.....I'm getting a son! Blessings to all you other awesome Mom's out there.

I've been blessed with 4 amazing children ages 10-2. After trying for many years to stay a family, we were rod that we'd not be able to have children without extensive help. After adopting our oldest, the Lord has given me the honor of having 3 more. This year, I get to do what I love doing. Spending time with my family at church, & then, a delicious meal somewhere. Just being together is all I want!

We celebrated last weekend with a beautiful brunch at a restaurant sitting on the bluffs of the Mississippi river. I have to work tomorrow at the little cafe where I waitress part time. I'm sure we will be swamped all day. It's usually fun to see all the families come in together.

I'm a few doors down from my Mom's home and Hubby and I will go over to fix her a nice brunch and visit with her.... then for supper I'll have her over to my home and will be cooking out on the grill, she love that and at 92 it's all about her everyday now... I treasure each day with her.

I celebrated Mother's Day early with my Mom before she went out of town. We went to dinner to a seafood restaurant she likes (she loves seafood). What would I love to do for Mother's day? I would love to have my whole family together. Just hangin' out. My health has been on the poor side for the past 8 months, so I would love to do something outdoors like walk the Snoqualmie Falls trail, Go see the Kangaroo Farm a couple hours away or just walk around a nearby lake with my family. I am thankful for my family. I love your digis so I am sure I will take time to color one of them too that day.

It is Mothers day here in Australia today.
My biggest wish for the day for me and any mother is to sped the day with our children.
And just have a hugmumgus catch up and lots of laughs and cuddles.
My children live in other countries to me and I live in another country to my mother. Who in turn lived another country to her mother. So we have never shared a large extended mothers day. What a lovely dream.
Love the foxgloves.
I just love your digi stamps and use them all the time. Many thanks for the wonderful images.

What I wish for most on Mother's Day this year is smiles from all the people around me as well as time to make some cards. I would also like the time to spend on the phone with my 90-year-old Dad who will be missing my Mom terribly (as I will). Thank you Marcella and your team for the awesome inspiration. Love from small-town Canada: Pembroke, Ontario.

I will most likely spend the day at home with my daughter's, female pets, and husband. It is rainy today, but hopefully will get to take a walk. A restful day sounds wonderful to me and hopefully playing with my new Power Poppy stamp set. Ally sent it to me for a challenge on Stamp Nation. I have had it for several days and haven't gotten to use it. I hope to color a little today using that stamp set.

I've been having a kind of grumpy Mothers' Day. I had a bad relationship with my mother and never had a child myself, so this is a difficult holiday for me. Thank you for reminding me and acknowledging those of us who mother the people around us, because I definitely fall into that category. I took a few minutes and let your words roll over me, and I'm feeling much better now. For Mothers Day I would love to be able to spend this entire day stamping to my heart's content instead of doing chores and taking care of business that I don't have time for during the week. I'm working hard to get in at least a couple hours of stamping at the end of the day!

I spent the day with my guys making breakfast and found some flowers to plant in the garden from them ( I love the perennials they buy for me and bloom the next year) Then went on a hike at my favourite conservation area with my daughter and a work friend of my husband. Saw many tiny blue butterfiles and dragonflies along with listening to the red wing black birds sing we even saw three snakes at the shore by the look out tower sunning in the bulrushes amazing to see. The trillium's both white and red were in bloom and saw white yellow and blue violets, trout lilies and even a few dandelions and marsh marigolds and amazing day - then home to the guys making a toasted tomato sandwich (my request) so good. This Mum's day is the second without my Mum she died on Valentine's day last year and miss her every day and as you launched the beautiful daffodil set on April the first with the sentiment sorry for your loss - It was the day my dear husband of 37 years passed away on his way home from work - we both had these three amazing kids and our hobby was to go out to nature areas and take pictures - that is why we were out today - the life lesson is that you live each day we have to the max as it is a gift

Hi, I wish I lived close enough to have been able to at least bring lunch to your Mom and the rest of your family. I would be glad to have given her some time off and eased your mind for just a while. I am not a fantastic cook or anything like that, but I would have at least done what I could. I hope you all had a wonderful day and I know that they all know you love them and that is the greatest give you can give!

I spent the day with my family, went to see my mother-in-law, and had my oldest daughter, ex-mother-in-law, my son, and my oldest granddaughter up for supper and I made a creamy peanut butter pie for them to try out! It was a very rich, but delicious, dessert.

I on Saturday I returned home from my stay in the nursing and rehab home after a 2 months absence. On Sunday my children, their spouses, my grandchildren joined us to celebrate my return home and Mother's Day. My daughter rearranged my stamping/craft corner so that I can access and use it from my newly acquired wheelchair. My son removed my closest door
so now I can get to my clothes. My husband fixed a wonderful dinner. All the while this was going on I received many sharings and hugs from my grandchildren. A truly wonderful day.
