Creative Confetti: Emboss Like a Boss!

Hello friends! It's Tuesday and that means it's time for a brand new Creative Confetti challenge! When I dreamt up this challenge, I wanted something easy and in my head, I kept seeing splashes of white on black. I have no idea why - it might have been that cool pine cone wrapping paper that I saw while out shopping. Not sure. But when all was said and done, I had white embossing powder everywhere and stacks of black paper at the ready. So, fine folks, here's your challenge for this week!

HOW TO PLAY: Just as simple as it sounds - make a card using either heat or dry embossing! Let your creativity flow!

On to my creation....

I started by stamping one of the main images from Let Your Heart Be Light using Versamark ink and then embossed using white detail powder. Then, using a few different shades of red and green, I colored up my image using colored pencils. I used one of the sentiments from the set and used that along the bottom. Add a little strip of red card stock, a red ribbon and a bit of bling and that's all there is to this card! I like to keep my holiday cards a little on the simple side because as you know - the paper flies when you need to create as many as we do!

Here's a close up for you!

So, do you want to "Emboss like a Boss?" Join me this week! Every entry is one more shot at winning a $25 gift code to the Power Poppy Shop! So, get those fingers inky and let's have some fun this week! Once you're done with your creation, don't forget to link up your creation below!

Thanks for stopping by!

Creative Confetti: Keeping It Simple

Hello friends and happy Tuesday! I hope the week is off to a great start for everyone! Lisa here to bring you this weeks Creative Confetti and we're going to keep it simple!

Life is a bit crazy for me right now....I work for our local school district and our kids are headed back to school on the 19th so we're busy getting ready for them. Plus, after 11 years of working the night shift, I'm switching to days. So, I'm trying to balance work, family time and crafting time! I'm always about keeping things simple but I really need to simplify things as much as possible right now. Hence, this week's theme. Let's create cards with lots of white space and not much fuss. Let the image do all the talking!

HOW TO PLAY: Create a clean and simple card. This means plenty of white space and a nice streamlined card without a lot of elements to draw your eye away from the image.

On to my creation...

Power Poppy has such wonderful images with fabulous details that it's really easy to pick one for a CAS card. Since I have winter and Christmas on the brain  I decided to ink up the set Let Your Heart Be Light. I am drawn to images that have an old fashioned feel to them and this set definitely has that feel. My grandmother was a retired florist and she used to have the most beautiful Christmas centerpieces on the kitchen table and this set makes me think of those.

To start, I die cut my white base so I would have some pretty edging around my image. After getting the 2 pieces arranged to where I wanted them (the top and bottom image panels) I stamped them in black and then used my copic markers to color in the image. For a little extra pop, I used metallic gel pens on the leaves and berries. I then adhered the white image panel to a cherry-colored card base and voila, easy peasy clean and simple card! It took me less than 15 mins from start to finish!

Want to join me this week? Simply create, post and then link up using the linky below! As we always say, if you get those fingers inky and play along, each and every link is an opportunity to win a $25 gift code to the Power Poppy Shop!

Until next time!

Creative Confetti: Tag You're It!

Hi Power Poppy Peeps! If you celebrate this beautiful season, are you ready? Have you made your lists and checked them twice? I have to say, I am about 2/3 of the way there. I am trying to "be still" however and realize that the real reason for the season is so much more important than if I bake cookies or get that one last gift. :-)

Having said that, we all need a "time out" to create, don't we? Well, for this week's challenge, I tried to focus on something small that you could do to 1. get in the spirit and 2. take some coloring time for yourself!

HOW TO PLAY: It's just as simple as the graphic says! Create a gift tag! Now, while my little bit of inspiration below is a Christmas tag, it doesn't have to be! Make one to have on hand for birthdays or any other holiday for that matter. I just knew this was something quick and easy that would still give you some time to create!

On to my creation!

I decided, for my tag, to pick up a medium that I don't often gravitate toward  -- watercolor! It's soothing and I love the dreamy feel it creates when your project is all wrapped up. To get started, I picked up the Power Poppy set called Let Your Heart Be Light. I love, love, LOVE those poinsettias!

To create, I have to say I followed some of the same principles that Ally used in THIS tutorial. Now, I don't have Brusho but I did use Distress Inks to both stamp (Vintage Photo) and paint (Barn Door, Peeled Paint, Scattered Straw, Wild Honey, Antique Paper).  I started by stamping in Vintage Photo and then added a wash using Tattered Rose Distress Ink using a water brush. From there, I just added droplets of ink from my reinkers to a palette and diluting the color, gradually built up my color to where I wanted it to be. Now, I don't pretend to be an expert on watercolor. I have a lot still to learn about shading and really controlling the color but, each project is a chance to hone in on that.

Here's a close up for you! I am kind of a "scribbler" when I watercolor and just let the ink flow where it wants to. Again, stuff I need to work on! ;-)

Now, it's your turn! Do you have a last minute tag you'd like to create for that special gift or special someone? I hope you play along with me this week because "Tag, You're It!" After you get those fingers inky, remember to link up your creation below. If you play along, you'll be in the running for a $25 gift code to the Power Poppy Shop!

Thanks for stopping by! I will say that Creative Confetti will be taking a 2-week break to enjoy the holidays. I will go ahead and leave this linky open, just in case you want to revisit any of the challenges we've ushered in this month. And... we'll announce the December winner when we come back January 8th! I hope you have a beautiful holiday with family and make some amazing memories to cherish for years to come!

Blessings & Peace!

Inspire Me Monday: One Ink Wonder

Howdy everyone!  I’m Allison Cope and I’m the hostess for today’s Inspire Me Monday. I hope you’re having a great week so far.

A few weeks ago, Julie Koerber our Creative Confetti Challenge director had challenged all of you to create a monochromatic card.  Click here to view that challenge and all it’s awesome entries.  I couldn’t help but take that challenge and I created this holiday favorite of mine…

This card features the “Glitter House Village” stamp set.

I had so many comments on this card that I thought I’d share the very easy technique I used to create it.  But this time I'm using the glowing new stamp set “Let Your Heart Be Light”.

So join me in the craftroom today.  Don’t forget to bring along that favorite beverage too!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8efmI4avISc&feature=youtu.be

And here’s another quick look at the card I created for you today using Vintage Photo Distress Ink and Ultra Marine Brusho pigments.

I just love the way it turned out.  There’s some extra special about the way the Distress Inks react with those Brusho pigments that lends to a very different focal image on your card.

Thanks so much for joining me today!  I’d love to know what you think of my card and tutorial.

Happiest Holiday 2018 Day 2: Let Your Heart Be Light

Welcome back for Day 2 of our Happiest Holiday previews! The Bloomies are coming up with so many wonderful cards using my new stamp designs — giving us all a sparkling starting point for making our own cards. Today we’ll hop right into the action....

Let Your Heart Be Light is a set unlike any I’ve done before and offers soooooo many possibilities! With a nod to vintage illustrations and engravings, this set offers two Poinsettia-and-Holly bedecked “brackets”. When place one on top of the other, you can fit one of 6 sentiments between them. Or just one one of the brackets. Or make a frame! There are also stamps of glowing rays that emanate from the floral display — it’s my first “two-step” stamp, and I think it’s a darling effect. As you tour the Bloom Brigade’s cards, I think you’ll see what I mean...

Thank you so much for sharing a bit of your day with us, getting excited for this release! Day 3 on Friday will showcase TWO new sets with a cuddly, snuggly vibe that you won't want to miss.
