Creative Confetti: Flowers for the Front Line

Hello to all you cardmakers, it's Barb here as your host today. Whether you are at home self quarantining or still working. We are all doing our part during this crisis. There is a lot of grief and uncertainty but there is goodness too in the world. That goodness will keep us together!  As a retired ER nurse, my thoughts are with all of the doctors, nurses, and first responders who are on the frontlines taking care of the sick with courage and resolve.  They are the Heros. That's why for today's challenge, I chose to make these front line workers the center of our challenge!

HOW TO PLAY: Simply make a card with flowers on the front and a sentiment that shows how you feel about our Frontline.  It should be a thank you or an encouragement. I will urge you to not only make a card but to send it off to your local Emergency Room Staff.  I will be mailing mine to my friends that are working long hours to help. Let's spread some goodness and make them feel valued and appreciated.

On to my Creation!

I used a digital stamp called Hummingbird Paradise. It comes with or without a hummingbird. I placed a sentiment in the middle from two different digital sets. One is Flower Bomb and the other is Acorn Ornament. They fit nicely in the middle. I printed it out with my laserjet printer which enabled me to use heat foil the sentiment. The rest was colored with my Copic markers.

Here you can see the foiled sentiment

And now, Let's see you make Flowers for the Frontline! Share your creations by linking them up below using the linky below. Every single entry will be in the running for a $25 gift card to the Power Poppy Shop!

Please stay safe and well, until next time!

November Power & Spark: We Have A WINNER!

Goodness gracious --- with all of the excitement abounding with our 12 Days of Christmas extravaganza, we sugar plum forgot to announce the winner of the November "Portion Control" Power & Spark Challenge!

So, without further ado, let's find who our lucky stamper is!

If you missed out on all the fun, you truly need to take a little trip back in time OR just click HERE to see all the fabulous entries that linked up this past month. Cindy Lawrence challenged us all to use some self control and only use a PORTION of a stamp or image! Great little reminder for this time of year! :-)

So, after random.org threw all the entries into the virtual hat, it pulled out the number....

Which means our lucky winner is.....

LYNDA PLECKAN!

Lynda created this gorgeous little number above using Power Poppy's Winter Pick-Me-Up digital stamp and the sentiment from Acorn Ornaments, also a digital stamp set. Love, love, love the way she colored up her creation with the watercolor wash background paper and the embellishments to tie it all together. It's also a nice touch to add a piece of the image on the sentiment circle as well with those softly sponged edges! We say -- well done!

Lynda, just email us at bloom@powerpoppy.com and let us know which digital or clear stamp you'd like us to send your way. If choosing clear, don't forget to share your snail mail address!

Thanks everyone for playing along! We had so many new participants and we really hope you all play along in the coming months. We'd love to see YOU win! Of course, you can play along many times during this months' challenge!

That's right, 12 days of projects that you can try and enter for your chance at winning a $50 shopping spree to the Power Poppy Shop! Click HERE for all the fun-filled and festive details!

Have a great weekend everyone and don't forget to tune in tomorrow for Tosha's day of the 12 Days of Christmas. I heard it through the grapevine that's she's going to be giving us some pointers on how to dress up that ho-hum gift bag with stunning results!

Stay tuned!

Inspire Me Monday - Enhance It with Black!

Hey all! Jessie here today to share a simple way to enhance your copic colouring, I personally love mixing my coloured pencils and copics together, but for a quick easy way to enhance those copics and make those shadows nice and dark is with nothing more then a black coloured pencil (for this project I used a Faber-Castell Polychromos black, but any black coloured pencil will work!)

I started off by printing the Acorn Ornaments Digital Stamp on Copic X-press it blending card. I coloured it up with my copic markers.

Copics used:
E79, E77, E74, E71, E70
BG09, BG07, BG05, BG02, BG01, BG000
RV29, RV25, RV23, RV21, RV10

Now I am going to come in with my black coloured pencil and slowly add in the darkest shadowns to make it really pop and read as 3D. I have a series of pictures showing you as it gets added in.

I then took these little acorns and fussy cut them out and they are ready to be put on a sweet Christmas card.

I have always loved how much dimension adding that little bit of black can give an image.

Thanks for stopping by,
Hugz,
Jessie

New Digi on the 5s: Acorn Ornaments

What’s even better than vintage glass ornaments? Vintage glass ornaments that replicate nature, that’s what! Acorns, pinecones, anything nut-like or seed-pod-esque that could dangle from a tree and be used for splendid Christmas decorating is fair game for my fancy. Obsessing over glass-glitter dusted pinecones and acorns is practically a national pastime around here. I want to hang them from everything in my house! Just check out the cuteness factor on these little reproduction mercury glass ones (photo via Pinterest).

Not only are acorns symbols for good luck and prosperity, but for renewal and growth. I think they are the perfect subject matter for crafting for the Thanksgiving-to-Christmas season, as every time you step outside, you could potentially stumble over a pile of them. Little treasures dropping from the trees!

It was only natural that I had to draw a few of them, and I’ve remixed a couple sweet ones and added a new one for our Happiest Holidays digital download collection. May I present Acorn Ornaments!

http://powerpoppy.com/collections/happiest-holiday-collection

This digital set is composed of four images — two variations of the acorns (one with ribbon cords, one without) and two sentiments that take you from our grateful harvest season straight into the holidays. Acorn Ornaments would be sweet featured individually, and with a little Photoshop tweaking, you can come up with bushels of ideas for them.

We have some enchanting cards made with these special gems, and I hope to add mine to the list a bit later today. For now I hope you’ll run around and see the adorable acorn cards by these talented designers!

You’ve heard about the kinds of ornaments that make my heart sing. What ornaments strike YOUR fancy? Let me know in the comments. I love to hear about your passions and nostalgic memories, and I may take inspiration for an upcoming collection! Ta ta, my dears!
