Creative Confetti: Shape Up!

Hello everyone and happy Tuesday!  Is everyone ready for a new challenge to help kick start your creative week? Well, I am! Today's challenge is all about thinking out of the box and using shapes in different ways in your card designs! So often, we take a main image, trim it up, mat it and then add our doo-dads to create personality. What if the front of the card showcased a bit of shape personality? That's what this week's challenge is all about!

HOW TO PLAY: To play along, just get a little creative with shapes on your card. Make your card base a different shape, use shapes for your main panel or just accent with little die-cut shapes. This week's challenge is REALLY open to interpretation folks! Once you are done with your creation, don't forget to link it up using the linky below. Every entry is one shot at winning a $25 code to the Power Poppy Shop!

On to my creation!

If you checked in last week, you saw some cards that I was creating for a local non-profit. Yep, all baby cards! While I cut all of them out...

I didn't get a chance to make all of them into cards yet! So, bear with me, you might be seeing baby cards for while! HA! This one is using Power Poppy's Precious Baby stamp set.  It's the perfect set to have on hand for this occasion because it has three vignettes all with a baby theme.

When I started coloring the main image on my card, I saw bubbles of color. No idea why, I just had that idea rolling around in my head! So, I colored up my image in greens and blues and then started to scour my patterned paper stash, looking for the right shades of blue and green. And... viola! I took different sizes of circle punches and just started layering it all up in a staggered design. After I was done, I thought it needed more, so I added the sentiment bubble and the little heart. On the sentiment, I added a little light blue Copic (BG0000) around the outside to help it to pop, added rhinestones and ta da!

I just love this set and all the good feels you get when you make a baby card! Don't you?

Okay, sweet stamping friends, now it's your turn! Let's see you Shape Up and create with shapes as the main focus! Each entry gets you a chance at winning a little shopping trip with $25 to spend in the Power Poppy Shop! So... what are you waiting for? Let's see you get those fingers inky!

Until next time!

Creative Confetti: Oh Baby!

Hello everyone and happy Tuesday! I hope your week is off to a smashing start! Today's little challenge is all about the wee ones or future babies in our lives! Every now and then, we need to have a card on hand that helps welcome someone's new bundle of joy into the world and this week's challenge is ALL about that!

HOW TO PLAY: To play along, all you need to do is create with a baby or child in mind! Just that simple! Once you are done with your creation, don't forget to link it up using the linky below. Every entry is one shot at winning a $25 code to the Power Poppy Shop!

On to my creation!

Recently, my mom and I took on a project to put together baby shower in a basket gifts for our local crisis pregnancy center and I thought it would be fun to include a blank card that the staff could sign when they share the gifts. Because Power Poppy's Precious Baby set is so perfect, I just stamped off every image in the set on a piece of white card stock and went to town coloring.

See?

Before I colored them up though, I did die cut and punch out the images so that they would be ready for the front of a card.

And here's a closeup of the little babe! I used Copic markers to color him up and just picked a light and dark version of each color to keep it simple. I also added some Wink of Stella to make the little guy sparkle. I know boy cards don't typically have sparkle but, hey, it's a baby card! We can do that, right? :-) I also added some white gel pen to add a little gleam to his darling little eyes!

And here's a peek at the little sentiment! I think it's perfect!

And while I didn't finish coloring up all of the images, here's a look at one of the other images I stamped, all colored up and ready to go. See, I had to add a little sparkle to this one too!

And here's the last one for now! Later this week, when I have time for a little more creating, I'll get these made into cards and I'll share!

Okay, sweet stamping friends, now it's your turn! Let's see you create with a little child's play in mind -- show us your whimsical creation designed for the pint-sized people in your life! Like I mentioned, each entry gets you a chance at winning a little shopping trip with $25 to spend in the Power Poppy Shop! So... what are you waiting for? Let's see you get those fingers inky!

Until next time!

June Challenge: Let's Go Round & Round

Happy June Power Poppy Peeps! I hope the sun is shining in your neck of the woods and you just feel that happy bubble of creativity that's begging to bust out! Why? Well, because with a new month comes a brand new Power & Spark Challenge for you to play along with!

So, what do we have in store this month? It's a super easy challenge where you can still let your card making prowess shine through. It’s just a little softer around the edges. What do we mean? Well, check it out!

HOW TO PLAY:

This month our talented hostess Stacy Morgan is challenging us all to go “Round & Round”. Round those corners, use a rounded mat or take it to the extreme and make your entire card round.

And, as always, our hostess is here to share a little inspiration to get those creative juices flowing!

Ms. Stacy used not only a circular-shaped card base to grab your attention, she has polka dots, a sentiment stamped on a circle plus a fun scalloped circle mat along with button and pearl accents, which, I might add, are also round! She really let loose with this challenge! I should mention she used Power Poppy's brand new clear stamp, Precious Baby with just darling results -- so incredibly sweet!

Amy used Power Poppy's stamp set Vibrant Thanks to make sure some of the teachers that educate her kids knew they were appreciated during National Teacher Appreciation Week. I absolutely love the pop of lime and the way she added the fun accents of sponged color, sequins and who could miss that die cut butterfly. Fab job Amy! I am sure the lucky teacher that received this beauty was wowed by your handiwork!

    Good Vibes... speed style!

Hello happy stampers! Ready. Set. GO! I am about to call this little edition of Good Vibes 5 -- Good Vibes on Speed! Wait, that didn't sound right. Speedy Good Vibes? Good Vibes in 60 seconds? Okay, I think you get the gist! Since there's sunshine to be captured, (which should be a good vibe in and of itself) and a holiday weekend to plan for (at least here in the States), let's get right to the action.

Get in on our sale to snap up the newest designs at a discount...

This is one vibe that you are going to want to cash in on because the clock is ticking my fine friends! This fabulous 10% off sale ends at the stroke of midnight CST Saturday, March 26th! So, if your fingers have been itching to get inky with these new stamps -- now is the time to hit the Power Poppy Shop! Use code IAMCURIOUS at checkout.

Have you been following Marcy's “mushlyfe” vibe lately? It started when she made the trip to Washington and traipsed around Whidbey Island on a mushroom hunting excursion. Since then, she's whipped up delights in the kitchen decked out with morels, she's hunted them on her morning walks with Mr. Tibbs, she's drawn them and then, above, she's created spore prints. Huh? Yes, that's what I said too... spore prints??!??? It's when you place the mushroom cap down on paper and this organic print just pops up thanks to the deposit of spores. Since it makes our fearless leader so happy and abuzz with excitement, we think it's a good vibe. And, we happen to love her illustrations in our newest release -- Wild Mushrooms -- inspired by her own nature walks!

I know I have probably said this before but I really wish I had as much talent as Ally Cope has in her pinky finger. I'd be happy with just that! Why? That girl is CA-RAZ-ZEEE talented and this week's Inspire Me Monday proves it when she shares her video on adding gilded stitches to your cards or creations. Click HERE. Watch it. You won't be sad you did!

I just had to make this photo above a good vibe because of, well, a few things. First up, don't you just love how with some ink, Power Poppy's M-Powering Words stamp set and a Misti Stamping Tool, you can create this unique, organic look that says SO much in a small space? I do!! I love the message too. "You are enough! It's unbelievable how ENOUGH you are!" Love. That is all.

Okay, this next good vibe just makes my heart melt a wee bit. Check out this amazing card by Ms. Cindy Lawrence -- can you even? I can't. I can't even. So sweet! It features Power Poppy's new baby set -- Precious Baby! But, what's even sweeter is the fact that this card is very personal since she's expecting her second granddaughter in less than a month! I know. I know. She isn't old enough to have a granddaughter, let alone two, but hey, she's an amazing grandmother, so she just deserves to revel in those pint size little loves!

This last vibe is a sight to behold to me personally. This customer creation was done by Kathy a.k.a. @mrsefs on Instagram. I am wowed because I took this class by Amy Shulke of Vanilla Arts last weekend and while I am kind of proud with my results, I didn't capture the look NEARLY as well as this fine wonder above. She nailed it! So dreamy! The class uses Power Poppy's digital stamp Hyacinth Bulb in Glass.  The good news is, if you are a clear stamp lover, it has just been released in photopolymer in a set called Hellebore and Hyacinth!  Well done Kathy!

Well, I think that was a little bit longer than 60 seconds and, guess what, there's an encore brewing! More good vibes? Yes, my friends, MORE good vibes!

Check out these lovelies and the fabulous works of art that they have to share.

Be sure to swing back by on Monday. Jessie Banks will be in the house and will be showing off another way to use one of her favorite mediums. Any guess what that might be??? :-)

Well, I just gave you a major hint! ;-)

Come hang out with us next weekend, June 2, for a massive blog hop celebrating the 10th episode of Kathy Racoosin’s Coloring Challenge — there will be giveaways and inspiration galore from a bunch of wonderful papercrafting companies, including Power Poppy. We hope you’ll join in, it is ALWAYS fulfilling and fun, and on a day with so many folks participating, it’s gonna be a bonanza!

Thanks folks for stopping by and sharing a little bit of your day with us. If you live here in the states, we hope you take some time to honor and remember our servicemen and women lost in action this Memorial Day Weekend! We deeply appreciate all those who wear the uniform and do so bravely in order that we may all be free.

Take care sweet peeps and we will see you back here real soon!

    ~Julie
