Hues to Use: Get your motor runnin'!

Hello peeps and welcome to the wide world of colorific creations -- where WE challenge YOU to dip into colors that you might not otherwise reach for in our weekly little fest called Hues to Use!

Today's palette was captured on a fun little marketing piece Marcella designed that truly embodies the love she has not only for "her man," but "her man's hobbies!" Doug, if you didn't know it, loves to fix up vintage motorcycles and "kicks it vintage" regularly with his lady at a monthly get together with fellow enthusiasts. So, when I spotted this card done by Marce herself promoting an upcoming event, I said, "YAAAAASSSS!" This must be our muse for Hues to Use!

With the color combo above as my guide, here's what I came up with my sweet stamping friends!

Once again, I didn't check my paper colors available before putting all the pieces together. Okay, show of hands, how many of you peeps color your card and THEN go digging through paper scraps to find just the perfect shade? Yep, that's what I do and sometimes it is not the best. You can see that I have a whole host of blues above. While I did use the shades in our challenge, Those are not the ONLY shades. Oh well, live and learn, right? Since this seems to be a trend, hopefully, this time it will indeed sink in!

To create this little moto-inspired wonder, I started by printing off the Power Poppy digital stamp set Well Hello Dahlia. I then colored it all up using Copic markers and chose these shades for the flowers: YR68, YR04, YR07, Y02, R14 for the large flower; Y15, Y35, and Y38 for the yellow flower off to the right; BG01, BG04 for the right vase; BG000 and BG10 for the left vase; R01, RV00, and R32 for the left flower; G20, G21, and YG67 for the greenery and B00, B91, B93 and B95 for the center vase. The bottoms of the vases were shaded with BV0000 and BV01. The highlight around my image was done with G0000.

Here's a little close-up!

After that, it was all about matting it up! I used a few different sizes of pennant flags and then, added the little Well Hello Dahlia sentiment thanks to a 1-3/8" circle punch matted on a shape cut by a 1-1/2" circle punch. Add a little twine-strung button and... ta da!

And that, my friends, is it! So soak up these shades and get crack-a-lackin' with your craftin'! Once you're done, don't forget to link up your creation below. And, as we always remind, if you play along, you might grab our attention so much that we ask you to take center stage here as the guest hostess with the mostess! We've already had a handful of AMAZING designers help us usher in the week's hues and man, there's no stopping us now! We can't wait to see all the talent join us in this happy space!

Until next week!

Beautiful colors! Lovely card Julie. I always have trouble using pattern paper on my cards.

Oh, Miss Julie, this is fabulous! What a fun palette, and I really love this amazing promotional Marcy designed! Sounds like this weekend is going to be LOTS of fun for Doug and Marcy! And I love the colors you've pulled out from it. Your card is gorgeous, and I LOVE the various blues you've used and the variety of DP! I would love the "venture out" into being as daring, so I applaud you...because it's fabulous! It actually makes it more exciting like the event this weekend...filled with adventure and daring! Hehe! Truly, I love your fun layout and beautiful coloring! And, yep, count me in on many times coloring and searching high and low for something to "fit" with it! Hehe! It's hard to do otherwise sometimes. But I think yours is perfect! Hugs, and happy Labor Day Weekend! xoxo

This is SUCH a fun color scheme — one of my favorites to use, obviously!! You rocked it, JULES!!

Thought I should add a note for anyone who might be remotely interested in this event... we ended up having to POSTPONE it until 2018. I will add a little note up in the body of the post.... fun postcard, but the dates are not valid for 2017. We have our weekend free... well, I take that back, I will be drawing!!
