Window Shopping for Hues!

Hello my sweet stamping friends! How's life in your neck of the woods? It is wonderful here in mine. Sun is shining. Birds are chirping. Who could ask for more?

Well, if you are looking for a burst of color to kick off your creative week, do we have some fun color cues for you today!

Take a gander at all the goodies in this window above. Don't you just want to hop on a plane to St. Louis to see this lovely little shop in real life? I sure do! Those cake plates are to die for and I just adore the lovely way the shop is merchandised -- color coordinated to the hilt! The shop is called Civil Alchemy and it bills itself as a modern day general store with housewares, clothes, jewelry and a flower bar with fresh picks to enjoy. Sounds divine, doesn't it?

HOW TO PLAY: Simply use the three colors of the week in your card or creation, then, link up your card here on the linky below for us all to see! Remember, the link below is never ending- meaning you can play along any old time you wish! And let us also note those who play along might just end up being asked to guest host here on the blog to lead one of our weekly Hues to Use! If you're chosen, you get to pick a Power Poppy digi set to play along with!

Okay... on to my creation for the week! Because the color scheme of THIS colored up image really matched the hues for the week, I decided to make it into a card!

Because the image is so full with detail, I decided to keep the layout on the simple side, adding the green and dirty yellow shades from this week's color combo and letting the rose shade speak from the image itself. I used a mix of decorative papers and then added that cotton scalloped edge ribbon, gold cording and bling for an extra bit of razzle dazzle. I am not sure I *love* the layout. I thought about ripping it all apart and trying again but truly didn't want to ruin my main image.

SO QUESTION FOR YOU TO ANSWER FOR BONUS POINTS!
(Leave answer in comments below)

1. How often do you rip apart cards for a "redo?"
2. If your mojo went south for an extended vacation, what do you do to try to get some of that creativity back?

I would love it if you would share. My mojo is non-existent right now. I love coloring up images but struggle lately bringing it all together in a card. So, please let me know what YOU do to get that mojo to return home!

So, my friends, let's see you get those fingers inky! We'd love to see your take on this week's hues! And, when you do, don't forget to link up your creation below! Oh, and while you're at it, why don't you play along in Kathy Racoosin's 30 Day Coloring Challenge? You can learn ALL about this fun little fest designed to get you coloring every day HERE at thedailymarker.com!

Have a fabulous rest of your week and we'll see you back here real soon!

What a lovely card with such beautiful coloring. I can't help in the mojo department right now, mine has flown the coop too. Hoping it comes back soon and you find yours :)

i love your card, Julie! I think the colors go well! As for your questions, first, I usually rip up my cards only once or twice during the process because I hate waste. Where I live, things are expensive so I try very hard not to waste precious dollars. Secondly, if I have a mojo day, I lay off my work for an hour or two then return. I often work in my yard when I’m taking breaks. I’m usually encouraged to work more on my cards after that.

I for one am glad that you didn't rip it apart. I love the beautiful image colored with fun colors and the background.
I just redid a card yesterday. I used the a thinner card stock to get it in my printer and then decided to watercolor it. That warped the paper and when all assembled, not right, too wavy. I added a a layer of watercolor card stock and then some fun foam, that fixed it. It has to be right.
If I find that my mojo has flown the coup, I check out Pinterest or you tube for inspiration. If that doesn't work, go do something else.

I have only had a couple that I have had to redo, but I try and go with the flow of the card, it doesn't always end up like my first vision and that's ok. For lack of mojo, I take a break and go outside.Take a walk or pull weeds in the garden. I also check out YouTube and Pinterest, Instagram and blogs.

As always your work is amazing. I love the colors that you used....and NICE TIP......I love to try my hand at watercoloring....It gives me a reason to be loose.....who doesn’t love that? LOL.....Yes, Yes, Yes...I have torn my cards apart thousands of times....probably because I just get with it and put it together, before taking time to do a dry run....so...I undo things and then find the better fit for pieces. So far that has worked. As far as losing my mojo...well that happens to everyone.....I just sit back...read some crafting magazines....fall asleep (that is what happens when I read). And then come back to my projects with a fresh mine and eye.....seems to work for me....Thank you for that awesome video....hugs

Hi Julie....First....love your card! Yes, I have torn a few cards apart that I wasn't enchanted with. Usually to recolor something I've added, or touch something up. Sometimes to replace an element with something else. But I try to power through and persevere, even if I'm not thrilled early on. Sometimes art has to go through an 'ugly' stage before it becomes beautiful, don't you think?
When my mojo takes a vaca, I usually do also. That is, I don't try to do the 'creative stuff.' Or, I switch to one of my other creative outlets, such as knitting, or especially Zentangle. Both are soothing and comforting. Other times, I just stamp images to color later on, or to bring with me when we travel or get together with other stampers, so I have something to color then. And, I also like to look through Pinterest for ideas, and check out card patterns for layouts that are interesting that I may want to use as a starting point for future projects. If all that fails, I go for a walk or read a good book.

Oh, Julie, I LOVE your card, and your coloring is exquisite! I'm so glad you pushed through and finished it...it was worth the effort, sweet friend! I rarely rip cards apart, because I don't glue things together until I am fairly sure what I finally want to do. I "audition" a lot though, and that takes time! LOL! My mojo has been on vacation recently, and I've been trying to relax and even listen to an audio book to get my mind and body to rest. I also try reorganizing my room and also have been trying to catch up with other things. But I was thinking about it today and decided that I need to print out one of the fabulous new digis and try watercoloring...or just Copic coloring. I need to just color and let it go where it will. Thanks for sharing your beautiful card using the Hues to Use for this week! I love it! Hugs and love, sweet friend! xoxo
