Enchanted Garden Day 5: Floribunda

Last day of previews - and it’s a stamp set that I hope you will love and cherish. I hope you’ve been enchanted by the peeks we’ve shared this week, I sure have loved presenting them to you and giving you a peek into my thought process.

Is it fair to say that we’ve saved the best for last?

Meet Floribunda, an exciting stamp set measuring in at a generous 6" x 8" — such a big canvas means I could fill it with as many pretty things as I could! The focal point is, of course, a spectacular floral border fitting perfectly into an A2 card front.

When concocting the participants in this ultimate floral border, I considered first and foremostly the flowers that a hummingbird would enjoy. Why, you ask? Because this set ALSO comes with a little hummingbird, which you can pop right into the center of the border OR use on its own with any of our other botanical stamps.

Introducing Floribunda

Designed with essential hummingbird favorites such as Fuchsia, Honeysuckle, Lupine, and Morning Glories, plus a plump Dahlia and pops of Primrose — there is NO LIMIT to the ways this beauty can be colored, cropped, and bedazzled.

What else is so exciting about this stamp set? The array of large, expressive sentiments that fit into the center space. You’ll find yourself using them in card after card — and these are sentiments you will not find anywhere else. Have you ever seen a stamp quoting British statesman, former Prime Minister, author, and scholar Benjamin Disraeli? I’m thinking no. Girl, I will go there! I once handpainted his words, “Nurture your mind with great thoughts” around the walls of my apartment kitchen. (Here is a peek at that, when it was featured in Mary Engelbreit’s Home Companion magazine.)

I love the idea of bathing our minds in wonderful words. Filling ourselves with positive messages. Reading, absorbing, continuing our curiosity, learning other viewpoints, taking it alllllll in. But I digress.

I also love coloring flowers — and boy, does Floribunda deliver in that department. I had an enjoyable afternoon, evening, and then morning coloring this up with my Prismacolor pencils. I created a Naples Yellow background using watered-down Winsor Newton gouache paint. Then stamped that awesome sentiment smack dab in the middle (using that trusty mini MISTI, my go-to stamping tool).

Does this image look familiar to you? Well, you eagle-eyed thing, this image was released recently as a digital stamp, and you can find it here right this very moment to download and get to coloring: Hummingbird Paradise. The clear version has a whole array of sentiments that do not come with the digi.

OK.... Are you ready for some SERIOUS eye candy?

I hope you have loved, loved, loved this week’s “show”! And if you think that we’re finished, well, come back tomorrow on RELEASE DAY for a full-scale blog hop with the Ellen Hutson TEAM. Yesssssss — there is going to be so much creativity happening on Monday, we might just break the internet.

LOVE YOU!

Enchanted Garden Day 4: Summer Berries

Our 4th day of peeks offers a vintage style and sweet sentiments with a summery twist.

Who can resist a trip to go berry picking? Not this family! We try to go out picking every summer — and now is prime time in the midwest.

The juicy colors and flavors of strawberries and raspberries are front and center in the set we’re sharing today. Summer Berries is the first polymer fruit set I’ve offered here at Power Poppy, and I’m so excited to introduce it. Ripening on the vine, my raspberries look to be straight from a vintage fruit crate.

Introducing Summer Berries

You may have enjoyed my Berry It digital set, but now for our clear stamp lovers, it’s available to you. I've added a simple strawberry vignette with a birdie visitor and cute new sentiments, too!

Tomorrow is our final reveal — and we have a big surprise on Monday with a special blog hop. More info coming...

Enchanted Garden Day 3: Strong and Beautiful

Day 3 of peeks is in full effect.
Let’s really blow the lid off things with a powerfully eye-catching floral, shall we?

When you select a stamp from your stash, do you think about what sensibilities that flower evokes? In my illustrated arrangements, I aim to combine flowers that have a meaningful AND beautiful effect. A uniqueness and harmony. An opportunity for challenge and learning. Nothing is just thrown together around here. (Oh, if I could only just throw things together, life would be easier!) Today’s new stamp preview is called Strong and Beautiful, and I feel those words spill from the petals and fronds in this bouquet.

An uplifting, empowering tree peony unfurls with glorious hurrah. Above is a luxurious Chinese cultivar in my garden that bursts into bloom early each spring, and seems to tell all the other flowers in the garden to get with the program. Hellebores (also called Lenten Roses) are ALL THE RAGE right now in the horticultural world with their intense colors, unusual veining, sturdy petals, and sizzlingly cool centers. What a fun foil for that big peony! A fresh green fern reaches upwards as if raising an arm in celebration: “I got this!” Dancing bluebells twist to and fro... they just want everyone to have a good time.

Introducing Strong and Beautiful

If this image looks mildly familiar, that’s because is offered in another configuration in my digital download, “Bowl of Beauty”. For the clear stamp version, I’ve simplified the bouquet a bit, moved things around to create a sweeping arch, and given you a Hellebore and Fern as individual stamps, so you can create simpler cards, too.

But the sentiments really tie this whole set together. “How Strong and Beautiful You Are” is one of my favorite sentiments we’ve ever offered. I think it pairs really well with this strong and beautiful floral showpiece. There are several other sentiments in this set, each with a few words that you can color in to coordinate with your card.

Once again, we are totally BLESSED to have an awesome group of talent helping to showcase Strong and Beautiful. Ladies, I turn it over to you:

What a stimulating trip through the blogs, wowwww! But if you think we’re anywhere close to finished sharing cool stuff, girl, you have to come back tomorrow and see what else is popping!

Enchanted Garden Day Two: Woodland Carpet

Yahoo, it’s Day 2 of our preview into our new clear stamp offerings. I’m extremely tickled to share this one with you...
I mean, I don’t try to play favorites or anything, but, I do so love a fantastical woodland scene. Don’t you?

When you’re out taking a walk, do you ever take a moment to look down? I mean, I do, but I am forever hunting mushrooms, looking for wildflowers, or hoping to spy some kind of neat seed pod, acorn, or pinecone. But goodness if the ground doesn’t yield the most exciting scenes! Especially if you are in or near the woods...

I have created a new stamp set to share with you today that celebrates these treasures of God’s natural gifts to all of us. The bits of life emerging from the soil and the ones that are returning to it. The great cycle, my friends. In Woodland Carpet, I give you ferns, fungi, flowers, and the creatures who inhabit this kingdom. Plus a collection of coordinating sentiments. Imagine the kinds of cards you can create with this one! Or take a look at the wide range of ideas shared by our wonderful designers — links are below.

I spent some time yesterday outside painting with my daughter, Lulu. Using Daniel Smith watercolors primarily, mixed with a few from my trusty 25-year-old palette of Winsor Newton gouache, I combined both vignettes from Woodland Carpet’s 4" x 8" stamp set, along with one of my favorite sentiments - EVER.

Introducing Woodland Carpet

Like I said, I’m not playing favorites or anything.... but come on. Look how cute this set is. There are smaller images to coordinate and create backgrounds, sentiments to make the explorer inside your heart leap.

Today we have yet another exceptional group of designers from BOTH the Bloom Brigade and the Instant Garden team to help show off the possibilities with Woodland Carpet. Take it away:

Oh wait, tomorrow’s set may also be my favorite... stay tuned!

Enchanted Garden: Previews start today!

Welcome, friends, I’d love to share my newest clear stamp collection, Enchanted Garden.

Beginning today, you can breathe in a dynamic array of cardmaking possibilities. Here’s something extra-exciting: Members of the Instant Gardener design team, who primarily showcase our digital designs, are with us for the next five days sharing their creations.

Resting among wild Johnny Jump-Ups in Gerainger, Norway

We’ll have flowers galore (would you expect anything less?) including my first botanical background stamp. Some images are LARGE and in charge. I’ve tucked in mushrooms, ferns, and fantastic sentiments. Several of the stamp canvases are larger than usual, as there was just too much goodness to be contained in a standard 4 x 6". A treasured classic design is being introduced alongside a fresh new illustration — you’ll just have to stick with us all week to see what we have in store.

And on our release day, July 1, we’ve got a very special treat in store... just wait a few more days to find out what it is!

---------------------------------------------------

First up... an idea that’s been a long time coming. Folks have been asking me for years for a botanical background stamp. One that can be simply embossed or stamped in a single color, but one that can be colored and embellished to one’s heart’s content. My friends, ask and ye shall receive.

Introducing Big Sexy Blooms

An entire 5 x 6" canvas overflowing with Gerbera Daisies, drawn with love and care and tiny details that help you know where to place your highlights and shadows. You guys, I try to help you make a masterpiece with every creation, I really do!

So what can you do with Big Sexy Blooms? I was hoping you’d ask. Let’s go see what our superstar team of designers has come up with:

See you back here tomorrow for more peeks and previews!
